Tiger Tank - Were the cables really stowed on top of the chassis like in tank crew?

The tiger tow cables seem to be stowed attached to the front and rear cable hooks on the tiger and laid over the top of the tank. The tiger also has cables stowed on the sides where they should be normally?

In combat they put them there as its easier to handle and use when you get stuck or is in water etc than on the sides, normal teansport mode they had them on the sides or on the top, as one can see on photos or models.

It was mainly a friend of mine who was disputing that because he says you almost never see them in photos like that. 

Have you any sources that say this was common? I mean it makes sense to me.
