DrDeath_MD Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 (edited) I was doing a mission in the PWCG where we did a patrol over the German lines. I saw no planes and then once we crossed our lines my leader broke from our 1.5km altitude to 6km and turned outeast. I never saw any enemy fighters and followed my wingman up. About 10 min later at about 250kph, 5.8km in a Yak1B ser127, my right wing comes off. I see no tracers, I pause and use the outside the cam view and see nothing. Any idea what could have happened? Random mechanical failure? The plane has been flown gently the whole mission. I also used the full debrief in the campaign and did not see anything hit more, or my wingman. [DBS]Browning Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 Without a track, we can't say what it is, but it certainly isn't mechanical failure.
Thad Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 Based upon your post... you have suffered a bad dream after drinking to much vodka. ?
DrDeath_MD Posted July 11, 2020 Author Posted July 11, 2020 Ha, I have no idea. I have had tails and stabilizers blown off by flak (even if I don't see it) but when I pause I can see the puff of smoke. I've been shot down by planes I never saw but once again when I use the external view and pause I see the plane. Nothing here. Nothing on the in game track other than crashed. Nothing in the Wilson log other than crashed (no damage message). Nothing in the log about action in that area either (no bombed targets, or shot down fighters).
Tonester Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 Maybe the Devs have implemented truly random failures?....that would be very cool

It might be if your engine start loose power or fatigue under g maneuvers. this happened to me before online. I guess it was one of those invisible planes ramming me

I try to match AA hits to the AAR so if you were taken out by AA it should have said so. A loud boom would also have been a hint . If you have the track, post it.
Shakey60 Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Collision with a "Foo fighter"?? About random failures, was flying single player #2 in a 4 ship flight of p51's, still on our side of the front lines when I glanced back to see #4 slowly dropping out of formation trailing smoke. He announced he was rtb. Never saw any flack or enemy in the area and the rest of the flight continued on with the mission. The thought of a random failure did cross my mind.
DrDeath_MD Posted July 12, 2020 Author Posted July 12, 2020 Patrick, where can I find the track? I doubt it was AAA or flack as I was very far on my side of the line.
=X51=VC_ Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 If this was online I would have suggested some kind of desync and all the G being applied suddenly as your plane position updates, but offline, no idea. Other than that... 2
