oooh boy im in love ? the Razorback is quick!

with just some quick testing on the deck i can get her up to 600km/h with 150 octane.

and 585km/h without 150 octane.

 

Not to bad for a Jug!!!

What is the main difference between the Razorback and existing P47D in game?  I think the latter is better at higher altitude but that is of little value in IL2.  Other than visibility is the Razorback a better choice in multiplayer?

She is faster (more Aerodynamic and a different prop) but it has less Water for the water injection

(so you only have water for 7 minutes of wep while the D-28 has water for 15 minutes).

 

So she is slightly faster but for long missions the D-28 might have the advantage due to more water

(Since with the D-22 you have enough water for 1 5min run at wep even using 150 octane,

but after that you are out of water while with the D-28 you can go back to continous and let the WEP time regen and you still have water for another 5 minute run later in the flight).

 

And the D-28 also received 150 octane with this update.

I prefer the D-22 (first i just think it looks much better and also every little bit of speed helps)

but i understand that many will probably prefer the D-28 due to the better cockpit visibility.

 

and im sure there is "somebody"? here with more indepth knowledge about the P-47 that can correct me if i missed anything (or if im incorrect about something)

D-28 and Razorback both have the same power settings available, the Razorback is lightly faster and has a bit better climb, it carries less fuel and water injection but overall it'll probably be a better choice in multiplayer for the sped advantage alone.

 

With 150 grade fuel you don't need water injection to use 65" so you are able to save water a bit.

Part of me desperately wants to take it online and duke it out tonight. But the smarter part of me knows I should take this from scratch and do a few familiarization flights to get used to the new FM (especially dive) and get used to the cockpit visibility.

It downloaded quickly in something less than an hour ( I didn't keep track) and yes the new Thunderbolt is pretty terrific ...the new Ferdinand is ...well... sort of what you'd expect it to be:beautifully done for such an ugly mother , but not overly useful....

Be patient its all worth it- thanks devs for a Wednesday release- a nice surprise!

I've been flying the P-47D-28 a lot recently so I feel like I'm in a good place here.

As long as servers have the 150 hi-test available, this will help keep up with those P-38's online.  Usually as the lone P-47 pilot at an airfield, if there's a group of fully-laden Lightnings heading out for a strike I try to form up with them to provide strength in numbers, but after a given altitude they eventually start walking away.   Now I guess we'll see if they can still outrun the fat kid on the block so easily.
