I’ll-2 on Quest Link not launching in headset

Hello!  I just purchased IL-2 on Steam.  I am using an Oculus Quest with a 10th gen i7 and a GeForce RTX 2060.  When I launch the game in Steam VR, I only see the “next up Il-2’ message and nothing else.  On my pc screen the game launches in the split panel...left/right eye view. What should I do?

Thanks!

Do you have VR HMD enabled in the settings for Il-2?

No.  I wasn’t aware I had to do that.  Should I launch in 2d mode, then go into settings?  Thanks for answering so quickly.  I will see if I can change that setting.

Just launch the IL-2 Launcher and select VR in settings.

Then launch the game form IL-2.exe with headset on.

I have looked in settings within the game, but I can’t find an option for enabling the VR HMD.

In the graphics settings page in the game, there should be a checkbox in the upper right region of the screen that mentions an HMD - I don't have the game in front of me, I don't know the exact wording as I have never had to touch it, you will just have to look and find something that sounds like it.  Otherwise I think it will just use your monitor, but it seems like SteamVR is making it output to your monitor like it is a VR headset (i.e. two screen views).

He is in Steam, he can't use the launcher. Not sure if this is something he can set in Steam before he launches?

Launch the game (non VR).

Select SETTINGS

Scroll down to GRAPHICS

There's a checkbox to enable HMD in the top right hand side

There is an option on the launcher too.

I did find the enable VR HMD in settings after launching in non VR mode.  However, no luck yet.  I have tried both directly through the Oculus link and wirelessly via the Virtual Desktop app on the Quest.  Every other Steam VR game I have tried works using these methods.  What’s different is I am getting a wrong Video Card message...asking me to please connect my Headset to the same video card as my monitor.  Hmmmmm....weird.  I do appreciate all of you taking the time to help me out.  I loved the version of Il Sturmovik I had for my PS3.  I would bet I’ll-2 is amazing in VR.

Yeah that is very weird, can't say I have heard of that error message before.

Are you on the version 18 of the Quest software?

I finally figured it out.  I had to go into the NVIDIA control panel and change the laptop display option from auto, which was using the integrated graphics, to using the RTX 2060. Now I’m able to play Il-2 on the Quest HMD.  Thanks again everyone!

I´m kinda having the same problem - difference is that I don´t use a Laptop.

When I start IL-2 in VR I´ll only get the same 2D screen in my headset as on the main display.

HMD is enabled in the options .. so far I´m a bit clueless - DCS and MSFS are working without any problems.
