browning303 Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 Hi all, I have been a War Thunder player on PS4 for years but want to start playing Il-2 due to its much greater detail and VR support. I'm thinking about buying a PSVR headset as its much cheaper than the other options, it would mean I can play many PSVR titles on my PS4 and I could also use it with Il-2 on PC with Trinus VR. I've had a read of the forum and I'm struggling to find the recommended specs for running the game in VR. I'm looking at Battle of Stalingrad specifically and obviously it's easy to find the recommended system specs but I assume running the game in VR would require a fair bit more power. Where would I find recommended specs for running it in VR? Thanks for any help or advice!
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 I was playing it on Oculus Rift, on laptop with Nvidia 1070, and cpu intel 6700, I think. It was good for playing. PS: I can not use PSVR because of narrow fixed ipd there. I would suggest something with hardware ipd slider. Or at least try first, if you really want that PSVR.

browning303 Posted July 7, 2020 Author Posted July 7, 2020 Thanks Joe, that's helpful. Dutch, I haven't actually bought the PC yet. I'm just doing some research as to what I'd need to buy if I want to run VR properly at a decent frame rate. 1

Go to their website and scroll down to see what they recommend for hardware. https://www.oculus.com/rift-s/?locale=en_US

On general terms you will want an overclockable CPU with fast RAM in order to run IL-2 VR with decent settings. Then, depending of the device you go, you might need a better or less better GPU. I would really avoid the PSVR device, if price matters I would go for a Rift-S (new or second hand) Just my opinion (it is not necessarily the best, there could be other combinations) for a PC with budget limitations: - CPU: i5-10600K (IL-2 VR is now less constrained by CPU but CPU still plays a crucial role). I think it is better to go to the new CPU socket and be free to upgrade CPU later if needed. - Basic Liquid cooling 240mm AIO, for moderate overclocking of the 10600K (5.0 to 5.2 GHz) it is more than fine. For example https://es.pcpartpicker.com/product/PVfFf7/nzxt-kraken-x53-7311-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-rl-krx53-01 - RAM: go for just 16Gb (2x8, or 4x4) and the highest without spending a fortune. For example 4400MHz for 140€ (https://es.pcpartpicker.com/product/vVVD4D/patriot-viper-steel-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-4400-memory-pvs416g440c9k) - GPU: For Rift-S I think a 2070Super will be quite OK. GPUs depends just on VR device. Since there will be new VR devices every year the GPU is easily upgradable. For storage is irrelevant for game performance, just only loading times. Go to a small &fast SSD for running OS and IL-2 and a large HD for storage if you need more space. 1
OrLoK Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 be aware that even with great specs you still might not get a smooth ride 100pc of the time. im still experimenting with settings to stop big drops in fps at times. 80-35 fps. 10900k @ 5.3 / 32gb / 2080super / nvme ssd.

OrLoK Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 (edited) Rift S Corsair Vengeance 3000 (32gb) This was in the inbuilt campaign generator with enemy population on meduim. There were alot of aircraft and ground targets. Edited July 8, 2020 by OrLoK
