Hello,

I am sorry if this has been answered already, but I have looked up and down and have not been able to find an answer.

I am having an issue changing the fonts in the GUI config.

I change the name of the font to the name of a font I have in my windows font folder... I accepted the changes... I go back in to see that the font's name took, I exit out and restart the campaign software, and the font is changed to a generic style sans serif font... and not the font I typed in. I go back into the gui settings and the font's name that I typed in there is still there... it is just not displaying.

I know I must be doing something wrong.. I just cannot figure out what.

I have IL2 installed on a different drive than my OS, could this be causing the issue?

Thanks for the help in advance!

I'm not sure why but I have found fonts to be hit or miss.  I installed some different fonts for the blackboard - the third one worked.

Make sure that the font name that you use is the same as that which is displayed in the document editor.  Quite often the real name of the font and the font file name are not the same.  Other than that, try a few different ones.

Thanks for the fast reply, really appreciate it.

It must be a naming issue, because I even downloaded and tried some fonts that others recommend and those won't show up either.

I will keep messing around with it.

I always have to load them into a word processor (I use OpenOffice) to see the real name of the font.

I messed around with this a bit more, and it seems like the generic fonts work... like Times New Roman, and Comic Sans MS..but I try a font that I loaded into the machine myself, it will not show up.

Does the format of the font matter? TrueType? OpenType?

Also, is the program looking in Windows's Font folder to pull the font?

it will take more than that but it's hit and miss.  When you downloaded the font did you install it in the OS?

Anyway, here's my blackboard with a script font that I pulled off the net.  As stated earlier two other fonts did not work.  This one did

I also found the fonts frustrating. I think it's a Java thing.

The following seems to work.

Drop the [font].ttf file in your /java/lib/fonts/ folder.

For me, it's:  [C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_311\lib\fonts\]

Occasionally, the actual font name is different to the font's file name. You can check this by right-clicking on the [font].ttf file and selecting 'preview'. The window that opens will display the actual font name that you need to input in PWCG.

Using this method, all of the fonts I've tried have worked.

Edit: the size of particular fonts can be an issue. For some reason, certain elements (e.g. the Chalkboard) won't permit a larger font size even with auto-size off.
