Hello!

Today there will be a very small issue of diaries for the reason that we are preparing a release candidate for version 4.008, which we told you about before, we are doing the final tests so there is a lot of work and little time. However, even if this DD is short, it’s still significant - because for the first time we will show you screenshots of one of the English planes that will be in Battle of Normandy – the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIVc.

"The aircraft will be presented with two types of weapon configurations - modification "c" with two 20mm guns and 4 x 7.69 machine guns, and modification "e" with two 20mm guns and 2 x 12.7mm machine guns. A 150-octane fuel option will also be available causing the already powerful engine to develop up to 2,200 horsepower."

This is gonna be a fast one, folks

From its state it looks like it might be the next Normandy aircraft after the P-47D.

And Cool to see that it has both the C and E armaments.

I wish that was the case for our Mk.IX as well.

God have mercy on us poor luftwaffles, because that bastard Spitfire sure as hell won't.

I whine, but I'm still super stoked to fly it ?

Totally stoked about today's update!

The Spitfire family is my favorite airframe (along with the P-38). The announcement of the XIV joining our sim was already a highlight for me, but now getting to know that I'll be able to choose my favorite version (e wing with eliptic wing tips) is just perfect.

Many thanks to the devs for their hard work. And for giving us so many options to tailor single planes to our likes.

Lovely pictures and news ?

I am by far no expert on the Spitfire armament but wasn't there a spit wing with 2x20's 2x0.50's and 4x 303's?

I´m pretty sure that will be possible including the "old" tail.

No, I believe there was one where the .50s and teh .303s were interchangable without changing the wings, but never one in mass production that had 20s, 50s. and 303s

Nope it was either:

- c-wing (2x20mm and 4x303s)

or

- e-wing (2x20mm and 2x0,50cal)

How many km/h ll be the top speed of this "monster" on deck? 650? ? ? ?

That thing would look awesome with a bubble canopy.

I know it isn't, but it strikes me as a mk9 on steroids.  Hispanukes and fiddies.  Ow!

Should be fun and lethal.

Amazing! Thanks Devs!

I have been waiting to fly this Spitfire since IL-2 1946, when IL-2 was modded someone made the Griffon engined Mk XII and Mk XIV, but it will be great to see what the BOX development team can do in the new engine!

I can't help but feel sorry for all the Luftwaffles, this thing is gonna be a beast... possibly the fastest allied fighter of the war, with a rapid climb rate and retaining the eliptical wing giving a great turn rate and energy retention. The only weak point I can think of is that without clipped wings the roll rate will be sluggish at high speeds.

Yeah the high back version looks mean, what with the long drooping nose and bulging rocker covers, but the bubble canopy version has better proportions in my opinion.

Damn that thing looks so mean in the hanger with that big nose.

Any chance we could get the variant with 4x Hispanos? that would be a lot of fun!!

*Edit* Especially considering (from what i can find) that one of the early model c type wing variants included the 4x 20mm.

I remember that the Spit MkXII could reach something like 375 mph / 604 km/h at sea level, and I had thought that the MkXIV was even quicker than that (until Samikatz corrected me). With 150 octane fuel and 2200 hp, should be rapid!

About 9mph slower than the Tempest, K4 and boosted Mustang

Is 2200hp for 21lbs or 25lbs? Because I know both were used, but they have quite different specs, for the latter you're looking at 390mph at sea level, but the former is just shy of 370

Very nice! Was wondering if we get a bubble top or traditional canopy XIV. Traditional canopy fits better into 1944 from what I understand. So does the C wing but I'm glad to see the E wing make an appearance.

I know we community members ask for too much sometimes but it would be cool to see the IX get the C wing for added usage into the Normandy scene. We do like our well rounded products and all.

XIV - gorgeous and well used in the PR role

We will be spoiled rotten with the RAF types in the Normandy Expansion.

I will just say one thing in regards to this beast;

Once i saw a video in which when comparing the Spitfire to the 109 some guy said that the Spitfire was beautiful but the 109 looked like it just wanted to kill you.

Well the  MkXIV doesn't exactly  look like it does want to do you good, if you see what i mean. Frankly i find it looks both beautiful and viciously dangerous, and far more so than any Bf109 versions. It definitely looks like the bad guy to me.

These's a kind of disturbing crazyness in this machine that makes it really awesome.

Thank you 1CGS, what a beautiful model!
