smink1701 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I won't be able to play until late tonight so I would love to know what I'm missing
smink1701 Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 It's not up yet, as far as I can see. So that would mean you ... you are seeing nothing.
viperrm64 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 LA-5 is beautiful but once again being a ATI card holder(HD6970) the dreaded micro-stutters at low level have returned.I'm not sure which aircraft are trimmable but the PE-2 and the Lavochkin definitely are.
ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Looks really good, it's available in my list of planes but says not on my profile or has been modified, Do I uninstall and start again? Always though the La- series look like real fighters. No rush any advice apprecaited
senseispcc Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) No need to uninstal only some off the input or controls are to be input again. 187.5Mb of upload for the upgrade this time! Edited May 8, 2014 by senseispcc
SR-F_Winger Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 axes cannot be inverted for some reaon. anyone any clues?
Habu Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Have a look on the cowl shutter cinematic seing the engine.
senseispcc Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 axes cannot be inverted for some reaon. anyone any clues? The best solution is to input them again until you get the correct result. I tried two times each time when the control was inverted!
Habu Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Use the default button and assign again all your control. it should solve the problem.
ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Is the LA-5 only on line? I set default controls Bring up plane it shows up until I select plane setup screen, did not change anything, then it says Not avaialble for your profile or has been modified....or is it my face does not fit ho ho Thanks for advice Oh I'm off line by the way or correction not using multplayer mode
ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Hi JZG_Kaiser74, That's fine as long as I know, I'm very patient, a wee bit longer won't kill me Thank you
EAF_Paf Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Fix for invert-axis-problem: I changed the deadzone and it was possible again to invert.
Stallion Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Fix for invert-axis-problem: I changed the deadzone and it was possible again to invert. I will have to try this tomorrow. Impatient me gave up after trying to reset the throttle to the opposite didn't work
216th_Peterla Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 That thing is really fast and an excellent rendered model. Just another beauty into the sim.
HeavyCavalrySgt Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 The La-5 can climb with the F4, or perhaps outclimb it and accelerates nicely. It will outturn an F4 - if he is trying to circle above you, you can better his rate of climb and stay inside his turn radius as well. It may take you a couple thousand meters to catch him, but you can catch him especially if he makes a mistake. In a low speed / full power situation the German analysis agrees with the BoS model: rudder is barely sufficient. La-5 drivers need to think about ammo conservation. There are some dramatic torque effects on throttle changes. The engine has tremendous vibration at some power settings. Taxiing for me wasn't possible, but I may have had combat damage. Lands nicely, but likes to do low speed ground loops. Opening the canopy apparently causes a lot of drag. Sometimes parts fall off, then regrow. Awesome flaps.

I must be doing something way wrong, the F4 is spanking me on both climbing and turning, seems like I can't turn or climb well in the La-5, it starts shaking and stalls easily on me.. course I am sure I am way rusty as I have not been able to put much time into this of late.

I was at about 285 - 310 kph, and using relatively shallow bank (<40 degrees, probably). The f4 I was following was trying to do the energy fighter thing and get above me but could not generate any distance.
sturmkraehe Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 My feeling is that as a Lala driver one needs to pay more attention to details to get the best out of it. Little things seem to have big effect.

I had some directional control problems on the ground until I ensured that I was getting full rudder throw. In fact, I had to resort to a hardware mod to keep my pedals from meandering about the floor under my desk. After that, gradual power application and lots of rudder seemed to work. Try locking the tailwheel, even if it isn't modeled, it will make you feel better. The airplane has less performance than I imagined. Will have to investigate further. Also noticed that when closing the canopy on the 109's, that there is a little hesitation as the pilot throws the lock lever to close it fully. Cool. Edited May 8, 2014 by Victory205
Finkeren Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) The La-5 is awesome - much more so, than I thought the early series would be. Surprisingly the 170 rounds of ammo seems more than enough, judging by my first few dogfights it's propably gonna be the plane that hands me my first 10-in-a-row kill streak as a VVS pilot. It's also easier to land than the LaGG. The animation for the cooling flaps is a nice little detail. Nice to have trims, it makes more of a difference, than I've experienced in other sims. Bando Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Compass of the PE2 is reversed. It had me baffled for a few minutes, untill I realized it zigged where it should zag and VV. Trim is great.
IIN8II Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Compass of the PE2 is reversed. It had me baffled for a few minutes, untill I realized it zigged where it should zag and VV. Trim is great. compass is broken on every plane I have flown so far. On the Yak it seems that east/west are correct, while north/south are reversed.
Bando Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) Oh? Ok. I only fly the PE2. Best plane I ever flew in a sim. Love it. Great pic btw Edited May 9, 2014 by Bando
Matt Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 The compass in the La-5 atleast wobbles around when applying negative G, not sure if that happened before in the other planes, but it's new to me and looks nice.
JughedJughedJones Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Blur effect seems to be gone??? REALLY? That would be Aces.
MelbourneFL Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 REALLY? That would be Aces. Depends what he means with blur effect. My problem was that planes became very jaggy when in front of some clouds (like they were rendered at extremely low resolution). When I played for quite some time yesterday I never had that problem...so it seems to be fixed. Also clouds and Stalingrad smoke columns work well together now. So there seem to be quite some bug fixes regarding clouds/smoke. I'm very happy with it. But he could also mean motion blur...which is the first thing I disabled...so don't know if anything changed there. Alexander

Alexander I play on ultra settings and have that really strange pixelated outline when flying through clouds and smoke. I think it just has to do with the updated clouds and im sure(hope) it will be fixed.
smink1701 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 REALLY? That would be Aces. Actually… I see it every now and then but I think it's been way way turned down
FlatSpinMan Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I'm still getting that extreme pixellisation when planes pass in front of clouds. No doubt it'll vanish pretty soon.
Nage Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I'm still getting that extreme pixellisation when planes pass in front of clouds. Me too. No matter the graphic settings.

It may take you a couple thousand meters to catch him, but you can catch him especially if he makes a mistake. I experienced it completely differently. I easily outturn ace AI La5 with the Yak or the 109. In tight turns the La5 seems to loose speed quickly and begins to stall. When I fly with the La5 vs a 109 I have no chance to outturn or outclimb it. I am surprised by this, because I remember the La5 to be fairly strong in IL2 1946.
smink1701 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 What is it you talk about? In the last update the blur effect was very noticeable when you moved your head in cockpit and also panned around the plane in player plane mode. When I do those things in the current update there is basically no blurring.
smink1701 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Yes… Motion blur was added weeks ago and I know that you can disable by turning off cinematic. Also I'm using the same system today that I've been using for the last six months. With cinematic turned on the motion blur has been minimized in this update. At least that's what I'm seeing
