jollyjack Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 T34 tanks seem to be indestructible. Hs128, strafing with 30mm canons, hit them i am sure. Battle of Moscow. Tank Damage set to 50%, set to 25% and 85% makes no difference. (T34 waypoints set to medium).

jollyjack Posted June 30, 2020 Author Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) Hi Thad, vulnerability is on ... Yesterday tried bombing them, that worked (kind of hard targeting a 20km/h moving tank). Edited June 30, 2020 by jollyjack
Thad Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Yea, nobody ever said war on the eastern front was easy. 1
jollyjack Posted July 6, 2020 Author Posted July 6, 2020 Well, i haven't been shooting things much since version 3.00x. Too busy getting to terms with the ME for a while, and the stuff i made was more transporting and covering flights. With 4.007c it seems allover that ANYTHING you shoot at (not bombing, that has improved) is too hard to 'kill'. Tanks, or Bombers especially? For example, with a heavy armed i16 i was pouring lead at six into some He111 planes. 15 seconds, and the darn thing just would not go down, full of peep holes even. And one went all of a sudden when a wing completely broke off. Jolly good show. It's the same with a Yak9T, a P47 and a P38, tough shit shooting down a He111 .... I get the impression this new damage model is not made for a single play gamer. Maybe it works better for Multiplay setups?

He-111s are tough to shoot down if you are just blowing holes in the fuselage or the wings. Its a big bomber, and the new DM makes critical structural damage very hard to achieve and the AI can compensate for loss of lift and speed pretty good and retain control of the plain. Aim for the engines or for the cockpit, especially with machine guns. The goal is to kill the engine, the pilot, or set the plane on fire. MG hits on the wings, tail or fuselage don't do much. With cannons you can still shear wings off and other parts but its still better to aim for critical components on bombers. If you are using the Yak-9T make sure you are using HE rounds, not AP - AP rounds aren't the wonderful plane-killers they once were.
jollyjack Posted July 6, 2020 Author Posted July 6, 2020 (edited) Well, i just tried the Tempest in exactly the same set up. 2 He111s down in one pass, and the third one after a run around the block. Scout's honor i tell ya' Paddy! I still guess the guns/cannons of the planes above are not really as effective as before. I think a Mig3 performs better. PS I'll try the HE amno with the Yak9T, had the AP. Is that also for tanks? ADDED: curious, any changes with 4.008? Edited July 8, 2020 by jollyjack
