JG7_X-Man Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 Does anyone know if there is any such limitation?
Stoopy Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 (edited) You may have to just run a test, however I have a suspicion that it may depend on CPU horsepower? I say this because in some of the more complex missions I've made, I've observed that sometimes the farther elements of a formation flight (i.e., plane #4 out of a 4-plane flight) don't always form up after the flight takes off and seem to go off on their own for a while. While aircraft closer to the leader display much better formation discipline. But this is just an observation. Not to mention that it may bring the mission to a crawl as well. JG7_X-Man Posted June 27, 2020 Author Posted June 27, 2020 Thanks Stoppy. I will stick with a group of four.
coconut Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 The in-game campaign has 8 p38 in a flight, so at least that seems to work. There was, and maybe still is, a limit of 15 or 16 ground vehicles in a column. You can make bigger ones, but I when I tried a few years back, still in version 1.x of the game, vehicles past #15 would drive too fast and collide with vehicles ahead.
Stoopy Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 (edited) Here's a flight of 24 Ju88's with an AI leader. It's a pretty simple mission where they fly a circular route on the Lapino map, but they stay in formation, although the course changes get pretty hairy - kinda like the Keystone Cops are at the controls. YMMV. Multi Ju88 Challenge.zip Edited June 27, 2020 by =[TIA]=Stoopy
Jaegermeister Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 Anything over 4 will give you takeoff problems if they have to taxi. In FC, they don’t even take off directly with more than 5. I’m not saying they won’t fly right, but takeoff gets screwy
