Dear colleagues, when I drop a bomb from the plane, I hear it come off, but I don't hear it explode, is that so? or I have something wrong configured. If so it should produce some sound just like when I fire the machine gun, the only way I know if it has exploded is by turning and looking. I think they should put some kind of sound even if it was soft.

Try making a flight recording of a bomb explosion in QMB (RAlt+R I think?) and use the F11 key and the mouse to navigate to the bomb impact point during the replay. You can access the replay you made under the Flight Records button in the main menu.

You should be able to hear the explosion at very close distance. From further away there will be a delay in sound as well as a reduction in volume due to doppler effect and distance.

The sound in this game works right as far as I'm concerned. We need to rule out whether you have a software or hardware issue.

If you can hear the boom over the roar of your engine, inside the cockpit, you're pretty close to the detonation.

What altitude are you dropping from?

Can you confirm that he bomb is going off at all?

If you are flying too low and using a bomb delay of less than 5 seconds the bomb will not arm before striking the ground. Thus, no boom.

Thanks for the answers, I know it is not realistic, but I would like to hear them a little more, because of the immersion in the game

I heard it once from inside the ‘47 while doing a very low run on a factory during career.

Two 500 pounders - was close enough to hear it muffled from inside the cockpit if only for a second. The fuses were set to impact -  thus not only allowing me to hear the blasts but subsequently feeling the blasts as it sent my tail pitching end over at an acute angle which resulted in me kissing terra firma with no chance of ejection.

Its all modeled beautifully.

Notice “once” is in bold.

Put a 500Kg on with a contact fuse and drop from low alt. You will hear it then.

If you explode with the bombs you should be close enough to hear it :)

For immersion sake it's accurate not to hear them. The sound of the bomb coming off the rails is already a concession, and a justifiable one, to immersion. The sound is in place of what you'd normally feel as just a slight vibration. But as for the actual explosion you're likely not to be able to hear anything like that over the engine or due to the distance that you'd be traveling. IL-2 does do speed of sound calculations so by the time the sound does catch you it will be extremely muffled anyways.

You'll hear it so good, you won't ever hear anything again!
