Pennix_LeGaulois Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 Hello mission builders, A quick note first : many thanks to JimTM and Prangster for their amazing tutorials. they allowed me to start building small missions in no time. I can't imagine the work and time it required to put together ! I would like to fire up events when player-controlled planes reach a set altitude, but so far the ways I could think of do not work. JimTM's manual states that Check Zone cylinder extends upward only from the altitude set as the Y position, but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore : the Check Zone keeps firing up whenever I enter the radius, no matter my plane's altitude (broke a few propellers during the test ^^), when it should only detect me above 3 000 m. I tried doing the same with a complex trigger and Object Entered / Object Left events (although the manual is not saying it extends upward only, but states it has unlimited height), with no more luck. Am I missing something ? Is there an easy (or less easy) way to do such a thing that I didn't think of ?
Gambit21 Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Altitude checks are a problem because we only have cylindrical or spherical zones to work with.
WWDriftwood Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 This helped me with the sphere, assuming this is how it works. So you can fly above/below without detections and may need to use a few spheres as opposed to one cylinder to cover an area as desired. Hopefully that makes sense. I was hoping it was set the altitude so the cylinder was not to infinity and would not trigger planes flying above the cylinder? Which is the opposite of what's described above? - My current understanding and how I use it - set the radius of the cylinder - altitude doesn't matter. Enter the radius at any altitude; 0 to infinity/stars and it triggers, can't fly under or over it. Yes/No explanations would be helpful. Thanks, DW More on the sphere here... nice visual and explanation.
