Hi, so i now have my flight of

HE-111, 3 groups of 5 @ 4k covered by two pair of 109's @ 4.5k  and a trio of 190's on high cover @ 6k.

i sent out 2 flights of 3 yak-9's to meet them, one grp @ 4k and the other i have been adjusting the alts from 3k to 6k.

German flights set to high

Russians set to ace.

it seems the Ai does not see the bombers until they are attacked by the cover flights, they even flew right past them.

 

in the old il2, when you raised the skill level of a plane, it also increased the amount of times the pilots would "look" for targets to engage, 

Does this work in this il2 or do i have to actually set the planes to attack the flight. i would of imagined that when enemy planes saw each other they would naturally attack without the need to set them to do so.

You should:

  1. Tell the Yaks to immediately attack the bombers
  2. Once X number of bombers are killed
  3. Use a force complete to stop the attacks on the bombers
  4. 1-2 seconds later (using a timer) tell the Yaks to attack targets in the area
  5. ????
  6. (optional and not in my photo) Add other logic like..
    1. What happens when the Yaks destroy X enemy planes?
    2. What happens when too many friendly Yaks get killed?
    3. What happens if the Yaks run out of ammo?
    4. How do the Escorts respond?
    5. What happens when the Escorts run out of ammo?
    6. What happens when the... You get the idea. ?
  7. PROFIT!!!

 

The idea here is that the Ai is stupid as all hell, and we're just helping them along in their adventures. Just raising the skill level of the ai planes, won't change their basic behaviors. We still have to tell them to go do X when Y happens. Let us know if you need further help.

Thx,

i tried using a timer on the attack mcu, so that when the yaks arrived at the point nearest the bombers they would attack. didnt seem to work.

The idea i am trying is to have this DF map where it keeps running for hours at a time, like when one flight of bombers are either killed or rtb, another spawns in, all randomized.

but need to have enemy fighter patrols that will engage on sight as opposed to being told to, like for when human pilots are flying.

it may seem a little complex for my greenness on this editor but, i doo like the deep end of the pool.
