Very interesting article about an affected Developer. I had experienced similar issues as well already - after extremely long evenings of playing up to 4 hours in a row - two TAW rotations, basically. But I would not admit it to myself. I have 20/20 perfect vision, but I felt odd afterwards, couldn't focus, eyes would wander off.

Take rests guys. Especially before going to bed. Fits me well, 2-3 hours per day is the maximum time I can and should dedicate to gaming anyway. Listen to your wives, and...

...and be my guest to comment on the article! I think this is a very interesting and important topic.

Can't say I find it surprising to be honest. I mean he did spent 6 hours a day with a headset on and had a pre-existing condition; plus when developing there's more to it than just relaxing and enjoying the game, far from it you are always on the look for issues/bugs and are repeating actions and testing things over and over. And you are exchanging the HMD with a monitor often; doing stuff in your IDE then returning to the HMD to test it. Plus, as the article says what you are testing is by definition unfinished so there can be all sorts of jankiness to it. Honestly there should be a call for better development tools for VR devs, the process is still a bit clunky as it stands and the lack of standards from the HMD makers is extremely frustrating.

Speaking from my experience over the years I've not done longer than a 45 minute uninterrupted playing stint in VR. My opinion is that one should deal with HMDs as if they are screens (because .. well they are! It's in the name!) with added complications (heat and proximity).

It really has not bothered me, and I have done as much as 3-4 hours at a time.

However like with IL-2 I take short breaks in between missions.

I usually do pencil pushups. In this exercise, you focus on a small letter on the side of a pencil as you move it closer to the bridge of your nose, stopping as soon as you see double. ...

I have only time in the weekends and like now when I have to work at sunday it is restricted to one day. So I guess if not become unemployed this would not happen.
