Vive Vr headset off issue

I just got a new video card, reset up my HTC vive. I launch IL2 in VR and the vr shows up on my monitor in the double view but the headset view is black. I can move the headset around and the views on the monitor respond accordingly, but the view is just not in the headset! Its on the monitor! I have no other issues with any vr use in other software.

I do have the vr headset box ticked in the graphic settings. The game works fine in "pancake" mode as well.
