=X51=VC_ Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 By that I mean, different versions that come in different expansions. Do they have better FMs following a different type of FM model if they were released more recently? I found a post, admittedly now 4 years old, that tested aircraft turn times and found that for example the Bf 109G-4 and even the G-6 turn faster than the G-2 at the same power setting (no WEP), despite being heavier. Is it still the case that some aircraft have outdated FMs compared to more recently released variants of the same type? Another example, I don't own the Yak-9 but my squad-mates are gushing over how amazing it is, like it's a quantum leap in performance over the other Yaks we already have even though on paper they should be more or less the same. Is that due to the FM being brand new while the others are a bit older?

It is more or less the same. It got 4k texture cockpit. I have not flown yak 1 that much but I do not notice any increase of performance. We had revised FM when FM is proven wrong. I can only remember it done major overhaul on FW 190 but I am sure there are more.

Is it still the case that some aircraft have outdated FMs compared to more recently released variants of the same type? I seem to recall a Dev Blog where they mentioned re-doing the flight models for the old aircraft. At the very least, the tech behind all FMs is equal. Still, if two flight models are built from the ground up, even for the same aircraft, it's extremely unlikely they'll be exactly the same. For instance the amount and location of points where forces are calculated might differ. Hence, a difference in performance between two models does not *necessarily* mean one is more recent than the other. So I guess the question really boils down to whether the flight models for the newer aircraft were built from the ground up rather than simply reworked versions of old models, and if so, if they have a significantly greater amount of sample points. 1
