What's this number all about?  Underneath the fps counter top right corner.

It is a FOV (Field of View)  indicator. (I don't think it can be removed either)

I think the devs added it so it can help with the spotting bugs people experience when using zoom.

That’s very interesting, mine, in game, is normally 80, when not zooming.  I would have thought it would match the FOV of the headset.

I think the number represents the in-game FOV and has nothing to do with a VR Headset FOV (But perhaps someone more knowledgeable can correct me if I am wrong).

Next time you are in game,  adjust your zoom and the number should change as you make zoom adjustments.

Default is backspace IIRC - at least that is what I have as a setting. Gets rid of them both.

It's a bit annoying, but hey ho.

FOV indicator in degrees, 105 fully zoomed out,  30 zoomed in  on my single screen setup.

Thanks chaps. I was just curious. I understand now what it indicates but unsure of its actual usefulness

Not that useful.

I tried increasing the FOV.  In 2D, flat screen, I can get 99, but in VR it stays at 80.  My headset, I think, is supposed to be 110 deg, I'm sort of surprised that the two numbers don't match.  I suppose 80 is a percentage rather than the number of degrees. I wonder if that percentage actually equates to 110 deg and if so, what percentage do the other headsets get ?

I believe it’s degrees rather than percentage.

The maximum and center values stated in the below thread seem to ring true. As in my 16:9 monitor using 0.005 in the snap view files shows 60 on the FPS/FOV display and using the in game zoom controls the maximum shows me 30 on the FPS/FOV display.

As to the discrepancy between your headsets stated FOV versus what the game stated is the current FOV. I would query whether this might be that the former is the headsets overall FOV but the latter is just the displays FOV. The 80 your shown being the FOV for each eye so to speak and they overlap each other giving you a combined FOV in the headset of 110. Just spitballing here, because as you know, I’m not a VR user at the moment.

Limited uses indeed. I’ve just had a tinker with this and those FOV calculators you can find on the net. The FOV that was using before this was not actually that far off.

Good thing now is..  the 2nd number below your FPS counter is actually your FOV value :)

I'd be interested to hear from someone who thinks this is useful, and why ?

Just curious..

Not me. I like having the FPS counter on but would like to turn the FOV off.

Surely as a matter of course the game's documentation would have been updated to inform of this.
