I have been flying in the EU 1CGS multiplayer server (I think that's what it's called) for some time now and have learnt allot about dog fighting etc. I think it's a great server. When I first started playing M.P. I have to say I really sucked, getting shot down by everyone as I didn't have a clue about plane performance, Energy, situational awareness and generally trying to avoid bullets etc. etc. I got to a point where I nearly gave up and threw in the towel after getting blown out of the sky over and over, although I had noticed I was improving a little. But that wasn't enough so I withdrew from M.P. for a while and started practising in quick missions to try and improve my aim and above all my flying. I flew until it hurt.
Joining M.P. again I noticed I was a bit better and started getting some points on the board (at last). It was a very satisfying outcome for me knowing that the practice I put in was paying off. Even after countless hours I am still learning something new every time I fly. That's what I love about the IL2 sim and thankful that it exists.
However there is a dark side to becoming a better pilot, I have now been called a cheater and a hacker by at least 6 others in the game and even had others voting for a ban on me,  the most recent just a few nights ago. Even though I still get shot down very regularly from better pilots who can outfly the crap out of me.

I will continue to fly and hopefully get better but it really sucks how people can take away all the hours I've put in to become a better pilot by calling me a cheater. The only good outcome from it all is that I suppose it's a bit of a compliment.  I wouldn't even know how to cheat and if I knew how I still wouldn't as it just defeats the purpose of playing this sim. I wouldn't even know how to tell if someone was cheating although I have seen a few weird things in my time.
My question is what do I do. If I keep flying I most certainly will get even better (I hope) but will this just lead me to getting ban votes by even more people. How does one become a good pilot without being accused of cheating. I wish the devs had a way of weeding out cheaters.
If anyone is cheating in this sim I would say they are only cheating themselves. To everyone else, respect and salute.

If you are not cheating then why worry about it?

Who cares what others think?... Just keep flying and brassing the bastages up... that will really piss them off!

The perception of cheating is more prevalent than actual cheating.

Not much you can do about it.  The problem is not on your end.

Strong accusations require strong evidence.  If they have no answer as to how you might possibly be cheating, their words are worth nothing.

You might wanba fly with more mature players. I suggest finnish server.
You wont be called a cheater there. I probably say something to myself when you shoot me down, but not in public

You'll get that in any competitive environment, in any domain. "Fame" has its downside... It's very easy for you to prove that you're not cheating by giving the accuser a recording of your flight. That will put him to ease, if he's a reasonable person. If he's not, not even a track will help him.

If you're not cheating, then just take it as a compliment.

There are people who are convinced that everyone who does well is cheating. People make vague comments that they are 'sure' someone is cheating and they know how they do it.

I have to say I have never come across anything in game that made me sure someone was cheating - sometimes in frustration I have suspected it, but eventually just come to terms with the fact that it was my poor flying or their skill which handed me a defeat. I've come across dickish behavior though...usually from the types that accuse people of cheating with no basis.

Honestly the reason they may think you are cheating, if they have any legitimacy at all, is that people with high ping often have significant lag, which makes them slingshot around the map sometimes as the server tries to keep up with the position. If you are in Australia and playing in the EU it is possible you have high ping and your lag may make you hard to shoot down. Some people think this is done intentionally - like you I have no idea how this would be done, and no one has explained it to me (for obvious reasons - it is either impossible OR something that one doesn't want spread around).

Of course this is not really your fault, and server operators can set the ping limit however they like, so if the ping limit lets you on the server, the admins consider your connection sufficient to allow fair play, and that is all that matters.

Ultimately people who know of cheating methods and have proof ought to be reporting this to the devs so they can fix it, rather than accusing random players on the servers.

Don't worry about it too much.

There are individuals on every server who thinks that they are unbeatable virtual pilots and can't take defeat like an adult. They usually blame the game or some aspect of it to be extremely unfair. But cheating accusations can happen also. Generally they blame everything but themselves and should be ignored or maybe treated with a bit of an amusement.

Of course that voteban system sucks if it is abused that way.

Like the rest of the guys above Ace, don't worry about it mate. Wherever you go in majority of these servers you will come across "haters" who just want to put you down due to their own deficiencies. I flew and drove (mainly the Tiger tank) around that server and found that if they couldn't kill you legitamely they would just ram you..??. And yes I got frustrated with one individual but then again, majority of the players felt the same about him also.. SO I left.

Try "The Unprofessionals" server as its local to Australia and majority are pretty good people. It also has harder settings than the EU 1CGS server and will only improve your skill level..

i have been doing the maths for a period of time and tracking the results of the top scorers . Let me sight one example last month . The player logs in " top ace of the month " and  takes off , there were 5 opposing pilots around the whole map . Within 10 minutes exactly he had downed them all ??!! so he did that taking into account the  size of the map , did not land and rearm obviously  then logged off and that was it . He was shooting down an average 2 planes per 10mn total flight time during the month flying in other missions . Now you are telling me that was just natural ability ?! what i suspect and i am no computer engineer is this . That he has a kind off radar tracking function which points to where anything in the sky is moving maybe even labeling them single mission style . I cant think of any other useful gimmick that he could apply in order to trace .

I worry as another guy I know was banned as he is really good. I don't want to be banned. The pilot I'm talking about shot me over and over and over and I myself thought that he may have been cheating but in the end it just meant he was better than me.  But yes he was was banned in the end. I asked why everyone was putting a ban on him and never got any responses. I have much respect for this pilot and it was sad to see.

You are right. But that competitive attitude is somewhat a problem in many servers.
It brings a lot of people but it also bring a real bad gameplay into objective oriented servers.
I find it more fun helping my side win a war. And if you focus on that any problem related to competitive attitude will disappear

Welcome to the club Ace-Bang...remember when I asked for your help when I was dealing with the same idiots? ?

I get your frustration. Some people just can't accept the fact that there are better virtual pilots than them. I was a victim of horrific voteban abuse. I was permanently(?) banned form the same 1CGS Official server for teamkilling a few select people that had kept votebanning me off the server for months on end because they thought I was cheating. Teamkilling was my absolute last resort after admins/devs did nothing to put an end to the voteban abuse. But the people who kept banning and accusing me all the time didn't receive any punishment. ? So, whatever you do Ace-Bang, DO NOT teamkill the voteban abusers. Sadly -DED-Rapidus allows the voteban abuse to go on, so really your only option is to organize with others and try to ban the cheat accusers out b4 they can ban you.

This is the reason: Of course we would just laugh at accusations like these, but as it happens, there's this convenient voteban system in multiplayer. Voteban abuse is the favored tactic for many less experienced players with big egos who get salty after being blown out of the sky. It's never their fault they get shot down. Always cheaters. ? You only need a few butthurt squad members and they can pretty much empty a server if they want to. This system really needs to be removed from the game immediately.

Yes I remember that and I asked them for the reason you were getting ban votes with no response at all. Was the main reason I voted for bans back on them on your behalf. You are one of the scariest pilots I've ever come across and I lost count at how many times you shot the shit out of me. But I saw this as an advantage for me to try and improve. I remember the first time I ever shot you down and it was a huge milestone for me. I still shit myself when I see you coming toward me though. You are an extremely great pilot and I for one thank you for making me  try a bit harder. I remember seeing you on my side and I thought "thank god he's flying with me and not against"..lol. Now I miss seeing you no matter what side your on. One can only get better trying to compete with skilful people such as yourself.. I salute you serial killer and you have my utmost respect.

Everyone above this post is a cheater! OMG what a motley group!  Finally gathered together in a seething cesspool of congealing cheating filth using sly trickery such as this reverse psychology to evade rightful and just crucifixion!   It sickens me to know as they post, their sly little faces with the sly little smiles, snicker with every keyboard press.  BAN THEM! BAN THEM ALL!.....

Lol I have been called a Bot, Pay to play gamer, more subtle, how can you turn a DR1 so quick at 95 degrees, How do you retain so much energy in a Camel at low level, there is no way you could have done that.

I could tell them I've been flying this stuff for near on 11 years, and been shot down so many times in the early days, and I look for the best pilot to train against (Learning their style), practising for hours on end day after day to improve my skill while they get bored and go back to GTA.

But I prefer to say "Kiss my arse" it's just quicker to type :)

Hi Ace-Bang,

I was there that evening. I dont have chat turned on for the full time I fly, so I got just few messages. I was in a good mood after a bottle of beer, so when I have read that you are a cheater I reacted to agree with words, yes he is a cheater. with smiley.

I am sorry for that. It was not mentioned by me seriously.I was kidding and I wrote it there.

I know you are not a cheater. You are very good pilot and I like the fights against you.

Salute man.

To the topic: Yes, it is not nice to be signed as a cheater. But you are still lucky. Lets look for example on the Ruthless Killer, who was not just pointed as a cheater. He was permanently banned. In my eyes he is NOT a cheater. He is just one of the exceptional pilots. He just have a very strong awareness about situation and self-preservation instinct. Thats something a lot of other pilots miss more or less.

When RK was flying in 262 (before G-effect update) I was also called for restrict him from that plane. Because he really destroyed everybody on the map and flying was not fun anymore. But since the usage of 262 is limited and he flies propeller driven planes, I see no reason to hold him banned.

In the contrary there is repeatedly connected guy (player-32108  , or something like that, dont know if I remember well) who repeatedly join the server and he trully cheats. Bcs his flight is lagged and much faster that others. He never responded for the message in chat and he is still alowed?

And Ruthless Killer is banned?

I dont understand the rules. guys.

Salute

Well, moderate and friendly competition is not that bad, but extreme competition (or should I say people who take it too seriously) usually leads to situations where one will want to win at any cost (this means: cheating, gaming the game, accusing others of cheating so that they get banned, pushing for game changes that suit only them etc). I don't see any permanent solution, except perhaps constant moderation (but then you could get in a situation where the moderator itself can be abusive); it's just human nature - people compete against people, clans/squads against each other, countries against countries etc - it's all about the old self-validation.

To the OP I suggest that if they ban you, you just go to the server admins and present them the facts. If they are actually the ones that are banning you, then you should just change the server. Not all servers are created equal.

There were pretty disturbing videos on YouTube showing the CE scanner through which folks can turn on the icons and arrows, which is what you're probably suspecting here I believe? Not a radar per se but more or less as effective.
