Bemused Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Hi all, Just finished a game on CB flying 190F8, mostly with 3 250kg bombs which I find generally effective. I decided to try out the 1000kg since it was available. I dropped it in the middle of a line of bunkers and killed,....one of them. As I pulled away the hit looked good, near enough in the middle and they all looked fresh and white as I dove in (no damage). I also used it against some buildings where it seemed to do better. On the whole I'd appreciate thoughts from the veteran ground pounders. What is your impression of bomb effectiveness since they were "nerfed". Thanks.
CUJO_1970 Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 The 1000kg caused discomfort and undue stress for many in the community, so based on that feedback we have a kinder, gentler 1000kg. 7
Lusekofte Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 They reduced blast effect and increased fragmentation radius. To me the bombs are a bit off when it comes to crater size. I read the diameter of the crater could be darn big. But I guess that depend on what the ground are made from. So I do not think we ever will get a bomb just right. I do not thing any simulator does this. I would be careful calling the bombs nerfed or wrong. I think they was too effective in some cases before. And I feel 250 kg is good bombs now 1
[DBS]Browning Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 There is a good reason planes tended to carry multiple bombs instead of one big one unless they were attacking unusual targets. 4

And I feel 250 kg is good bombs now I think you are correct - they were way overpowered before and one, well placed 1000kg bomb could nuke virtually an entire objective. That said, I would still like them to have some effect and for there to be a reason to take them over more, smaller bombs. On CB again tonight with F8 and found even 70kg bombs will destroy bunkers so carrying 4 of these plus two 250s = 6 bunkers destroyed. I would hope it would be better to hit say, a built-up area, with the 1000kg. Has anyone tested this?

Charon Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Bunkers are built to withstand HE. I wouldn't expect them to be destroyed by anything but a direct hit with a delayed fuse. 2
Lusekofte Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Those bunkers are way too much used as target. It is tedious work destroying a objective. And they are everywhere. 2

I usually fly fighterbomber against them first just to see what way they are constructed. Then line them up on high level bombing. But one click wrong direction or wrong wind setting and you wasted Over two hour flight. And if bombs drop in wrong sequence it is wasted time you get only one or two

I usually save bombs for softer targets so single bomb destroys more units or single tank as being more valuable target imo. For bunkers i use cannons looking and knocking on bunker doors with them as bunker entrance being easiest way to destroy them! (Must say i was suprised that being modeled ingame)
