hiro Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 (edited) It'd be cool once they got it to a fine degree where weapon type affects the type of damage . . .like say low quality HE rounds, would have some acting like normal rounds or HE hitting thickly armored planes wouldn't really do much . . . or proximity rounds / close flak hits vs direct hits . . . Yeah lots of detail. However I have a feeling the game will have a decent and somewhat complex DM and the fine tuning Example is hits the right wing at the root, the DM shows it there (instead of the tail shredding off), and enough hits / stress will have a wing coming off or twisting, but not where if a round passes through a section fo the cockpit, it hits the pilot's arm so injury and control issues. migmadmarine Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I do hope that they will have separate hit boxes for wings and spars...
JG13_opcode Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 It'd be nice if they ditched DX9. With tessellation shaders they could do deformable geometry right on the GPU.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Well I'm pretty sure they are sticking To dx9 for release. I'm hoping that the oiled effect that you experience in rof is actually on your windscreen instead of your goggles. Cause that just wouldn't make sense. And doesn't rof already properly simulate damage at the correct impact point? Afaik this is really a standard that has to be met to eve. Be considered as a "sim" war thunder can get away with blowing this off because they are a "game". I'm fairly confident that they have this handled.
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 S! Go 64-bit and finally ditch the bane of game development called 32-bit. More memory to use etc. If you still use XP and think it is the best and you expect t play a detailed sim with a computer 10 years old, please do a reality check Windows 7 blows XP out of the water by far. Oleg said it already during original IL-2: If you want high fidelity FM/DM/whatever be sure you will need a good computer for it. Plain and simple. High fidelity gaming means no El Cheapo setup will cut it. Can't expect a Ford Pinto to perform like a Dodge Viper
SR-F_Winger Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I am pretty confident that the DM will be more than adequate. Just look at the ROF DM as an example, look how the sim over all got improoved over the last years. This will let you look very confident on the DM in IL2:BOS. If necessary i will upgrade my PC for this sim. But I think my current rig will handle it more than well. This sim deserves only the best of PC gaming rigs. *Rubs his hands and runs around impatiently while, waiting for the preorder opportuinity* Winger
