hausnm Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 Hello, how do you play online ? Is it better to use LAN or can wlan be enough for smooth gameplay ? Do you have wlan tips ? thanks for your suggestions.
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 S! Since I got fibre connection there was no way I would go back to wireless playing. LAN beats WLAN every single time. Less delay, better ping etc. That is my experience on it.
hausnm Posted June 6, 2020 Author Posted June 6, 2020 So you have less stuttering even with a huge amount of players online ?

That should not influence your connection that much. If you do not have the chance to fly by ethernet-wire (mostly because of ladies refusing a 15 meter cable winding through the living room ...), try this:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HomePlug That's fine for me over years now, usually not more than 1 to 3 ms ping time loss and - in my environment - not influenced by hoovers, drills and hair-dryers. If you need to go with WLAN, try to avoid "meshed"-set-ups with repeaters etc. And switch off any "automatic optimisations" like channel-movements, cross-over from 2.4 to 5 GHz and else gimmicks most of the modern WLAN-routers offer. That might be nice for standard utilisation, but you need a non-stop low-ping connection without any interrupt by WLAN-optimization. (btw: short communication breaks via WLAN during to-days endless corona-video-sessions might have a reason in those "optimizations", too) Edited June 6, 2020 by Retnek
