Awe5ome Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to the forum and I've been experiencing some technical issues for a while now. I purchased the game on steam, and some of the issues have been plaguing my game play for as long as I can remember. Examples include: - Map textures becoming red masses -Objective map textures becoming red masses - Setting wind speed to 5m/s and getting 50m/s - Random pausing of the game - Massive desync between my flight stick and in-game reaction - Frame rate problems - Taking longer to load games than dial-up internet - Failing to load issues - Failed to write issues - "Critical error occurred" - And randomly getting kicked from the game Just to name a few. Now I will admit my PC doesn't have a huge amount of Ram which is required for big maps, like Rhineland. Usually I'd just assume that it was my PC running out of Ram and the game crashing as a result. However, recently I downloaded the IL-2 launcher for the game. NONE OF THE ISSUES ABOVE HAVE EVER OCCURRED IN THE IL-2 VERSION. Seriously I can't spend more than 3 minutes on the steam version before something happens and the game crashes. Whether it be that "failed to write issue" which is odd because if it did fail to write I wouldn't expect the game to still be running in the background. Or the game just decides it's had enough of running and kicks me without warning or issue being notified. I will then load up the IL-2 version and the game runs without issue, no frame problems, loading issues, no "CRiTIcal ErRoR oCcuRReD" nothing. The game runs fine. Whenever I verify the integrity of the game files I always get the same response from Steam "1 file couldn't be verified and will be reacquired" Steam then downloads the single file, I launch the game and 3 minutes in the same thing happens again. The game crashes, I go to Steam verify the game files and "1 file couldn't be verified and will be reacquired". So you might be wondering why would you keep playing the Steam version if the IL-2 version works better. Well as it turns out any aircraft purchased on Steam can only be flown on the Steam version, for me this includes the following Aircraft: P-40 Warhawk Bf-109 G6 FW190 D9 So I have the choice between playing an unplayable game on steam but I at least can access my $60 worth of aircraft, or giving up $60 and actually having a playable game.
