SimShaker wings with only ButtKicker Gamer first impressions.

Color me impressed, this really brings the aircraft to life.  It's almost a replacement for force feedback. I'm excited to add some smaller tactile transducers to my stick and rudder and tie them only to mostly to stall effects layering the feedback.

My settings are attached for anyone interested. Make sure to hit the test button and set the amp volume one notch below clipping.

Some feedback: The biggest improvement would be to have a gain slider for each channel of bass shakers for each effect. I understand I can go edit the files to accomplish this but the convenience in app would be great. Maybe it's there and I'm missing it somewhere.

It's easy to loose the first light  indications of a stall in the engine or other vibrations. Maybe the frequency could be lowered a bit so it stands out a bit from the engine.

Flaps don't make any vibrations when the engine is off or dead. This may be an IL-2 problem.

I rate this 9/10 with some improvements 10/10.

Thanks!

An external sound card , not 100% sure, but most people got one for this (mine cost $15), me included.

It's awesome with buttkicker, highly recommend.   Also, instead of getting another sound card to power the buttkicker, you can also use HD Audio from your graphics card. Plug your buttkicker into your monitor's audio out and choose HD Audio in Simshaker as the source. Works perfectly.

I use my on board sound card as when I'm in VR and it uses the video card sound output.

do I need another software (Voicemeeter) to have both the HDMI output to the BKs AND speakers at the same time or just manage through the Win?

I doubled down and added 2 more tactile transducers. With the smaller ones the stall effect was far too high frequency. I swapped the stall.wav out for a copy of the refueling.wav and it feels far more realistic. I've never flown a plane but the lower frequency matches the in game audio ques much better and matches what I remember from my G940 FFB stall effect.

Here is how I mounted the new transducers.

No, you can manage it through Windows.   Here is how you setup to access both your sound from your sound card/motherboard and your sound from graphics card HDMI:

Turns out I did not not have to do anything in the Win settings! (super happy, b/c Win 10 sound control panel trick not possible w/o Voicemeeter or similar software, at least in my case..)

Plugged in my BKs I to the audio out from my AsusRog monitor (Displayport) choose it as an output in the SimshakersWings set up and VOILÀ!

IT IS AWESOME!!!!

How do you prevent the rattle on the swivel chair?

I stuff some foam between the rattly bits. You can see it in the images.

Very interested in trying a buttkicker.  How have you managed to isolate the game sound from teamspeak chatter?

I use separate audio devices. Game and voice go to my valve index via the nvidia audio device and the buttkicker via simshaker is fueled by my onboard sound card.

Just hooked my 1 Buttkicker Gamer 2 up and downloaded the demo of Simshaker Wings. Very cool in IL2! When my 20 minutes were up flying without it just seemed dead. In VR this feels amazing...I just need to tweak my levels a little better to feel everything.

So I know I'm supposed to not see any red flashes on the LED cause that's clipping...but I feel like I can feel more when the volume up and it does go into the red a little when I fire the guns or get shot. When I turn it down and I'm just in the green it feels too soft and quiet.

How many "clicks" do yo guys press on your Buttkicker volume button to get your desired volume? For me the sweet spot is about 10 clicks of volume up after turning it on. Do you guys mess with the other knobs or volumes too that cut out certain ranges? Maybe that's my problem I have one of those on or off and shouldn't. I'd be really curious to hear everyone else's settings who just run one solo Buttkicker thanks!

Buttkicker is the most underrated gaming hardware.  Really brings those airplanes to life!

Kestrel 79: The Buttkicker website shows recommended settings for the amplifier.  SimShaker Wings also has multiple volume settings for different feedback. Give them a try to dial-in the effects you want.

Regarding “clicks”: Six clicks does it for me. If I go one more click I get the red clipping light, which I don’t want.

Question,

Can you dial this in to get just vibration or do you have to have loud noise? I'm concerned about others in the house sleeping.

Thanks.

My neighbour has been able to 'hear' mine ("Have you had your motorbike in there?"), so I'd say the only way to not disturb others in the same house is to somehow insulate the chair from the floor (vibrations, the noise isn't so much the issue).

I think if you hear the loud noise then it's clipping and you need to turn it down or risk damaging equipment. However if you have loose objects near or connected it can amplify the noise.

Thanks,

I purchased and have it working.

It's not that loud.

Ordered sim shaker wings today waiting of licence key and my buttkicker is at post office ready for pickup. So will join the club hopefully. Will be using with my reverb g2

So can someone walk me trough the setup step by step? I guess I still need voicemeeter right?

Ok have it up and running feels great, just the guns feels way to much even when setting the gain to 10%. Anyone encounter this?
