GRAZIE A "I 144"

Dunque, innanzitutto GRAZIE A "I 144".

Come ricorda Yeats:

che mi spinse un giorno a questo tumulto fra le nuvole;

"Noi siamo oggetti dell'incoerenza generale...

THANKS TO "THE 144"

The dust raised by the propellers on the track has not yet settled which is already time to say goodbye.
They will only be temporary because news reaches us that the Battle of Britain continues, therefore the Second Crusade Division will still have to lift its bombers and the "Thin British Blue Line" will still have to try to protect the homeland.
These thanks are however due because many Pilots will leave soon for their well-deserved licenses.
So, first of all, THANKS TO "THE 144".
144 pilots who have ventured into this Air War, perhaps "new" for a simulator that prefers tactical actions, but in reality "old" because the essence of Air Power has been theorized for more than 100 years and is represented precisely by the ability to bring the Offensive to the same house as the enemy.
It was the Strategic Projection that could change the tide of the War, as taught by the "Mighty Eighth" offensive in the heart of Germany, of which it devastated its logistical capacity and inexorably arresting the powerful German war machine.
It was the demonstration that Douhet's (and Gianni Caproni's) theories about Air Power were not only visions, even if expressed in the distant 1921, with the excellent work "The Dominion of Air".
In our intention it was exactly what we wanted to try for our Virtual Pilots.
Dominate the sky above the enemy's head or try to oppose the hated invader, as their young colleagues on both sides did with courage and self-denial, exchanging everything they had for what they believed in.

As Yeats remember:

"...Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;

I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death..."

The 80th anniversary of the Battle of England is taking place in these days in which a generation of Pilots-Boys really lived and died this incredible and dramatic event.
If we managed to make you think of them, of the emotions they really felt as they boarded their fragile planes, while fear tightened their stomachs to the nausea when they saw the enemy contrails, while they sweated in their flight combinations fighting against the G force and the tremor of their hands, well, if we managed to make you remember them for just a moment, well, we will have achieved our goal.

The war events are long gone but the reflections and insights that can be done (like this virtual flight) remain and that are better understood, when the dust of the battle has settled as recalls the poet writer par excellence, who also disappeared during a war flight:

"We are objects of general inconsistency ... We are pieces of a great construction of which more time, more silence and more perspective are needed to discover the assembly ... Antoine De Saint-Exupery ( war pilot) "

Soon, to "the 144" Pilots and others who will join, in the "Virtual but Real Skies" of

"...Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;

I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death..."
