Forced landing definition?

Hi there.

 

Im flying mostly on Red combat box.   Great server ?   

 

Sometimes when my plane gets damaged and I reach my homebase, making a perfect landing,  the "mission end message" will tell me that I have made a forced landing and my aircraft will be registered as lost in the statistics.

 

Is that the way it should be?

I did some testing in June of last year and I found that all of the following conditions are necessary for the "Forced Landing" message:

• You are outside the "Maintenance Radius" of a friendly airfield (default is 1,000m)
• You are outside of the enemy "Influence Area" (area defined by the mission maker in which you are considered to be captured if you land, crash land and do not die,  or do not bail out)
• You landed or crash landed (i.e., you did not bail out)

Unless the behaviour has changed, the only reason I can see for your "Forced Landing" message is that the maintenance radius for the airfield is quite small and you landed outside that radius. I took a look at Eindhoven airfield and the maintenance radius is 1,900m. If this is typical then you should have received a "Successful Landing" message. What airfield did you land at?

 The airfield was Koeln-Ostheim.  Perfect landing.  stopped in the middle of the airfield.

Maintenance radius is 1170m at this field, here's a visual. It should cover you stopping in the middle of the field, so I don't think it's that.

Sounds like it's either a bug or the message logic has changed to treat all landings outside the enemy influence area by a damaged planes as forced landings.
