Finally have this one off the table. Took me more than I expected. Just could not get myself to do any modelling, could not find the motivation until end of October.

The build was not an easy one. Kit is the old Revell one. Decided to go for the floats version so needed to buy 3rd party decals from Lima November Decals.
I will not even go into what is wrong with then kit as such, let's just say, that it is a parody of the real plane. Did some scratch building though- replaced all the handles by home made ones, built the ladder, replaced the antennae top part and added some other minor stuff. Attaching the decals was a nightmare even despite using mark soft strong. They just did not stick properly to the surface. The float support beams took a few years off my lifespan as well. Had to rework the front ones to get at least some fit.

Amyway, I am tossing the towel into the ring and am calling it done.

Hi Lusekofte. Do You mean the type of the Junkers plane, or specifically this one with immatriculation LN-ABH?

It is a lovely looking plane. I just wish there was a better quality kit on the market.

LN-ABH

"Fly, Junkers F 13. I 1932 registered to LN -ABH and sold to Nord-Norges Aero.  It was the only stuff flying up where I live and not too many photos.

So people took properly in it- Norsk Luftfartsmuseum / DigitaltMuseum" https://digitaltmuseum.no/021015548535/fly-junkers-f-13-i-1932-omregistrert-til-ln-abh-og-solgt-til-nord-norges/media?slide=0

Thanks for the photo and the bit of interesting history. I can see I screwed up a thing or two, just from this picture ? But actually am glad it confirms that the floats assembly of the kit is completely off and not just my abysmal skills are to blame.  Tried to find some pictures on my own during the build, but found just one of the latter version with different rudder and engine.

The Junkers looks fantastic STN.  I would never guess that it gave you any trouble by looking at the outcome.

The first of the two A5M2a conversions is coming along.  I'm still waiting for the GaiaNotes lacquers to come in the post, so the cammo version will have to wait.  I'm in two minds about the scheme for this one.  The extended black area behind the cowl disguises how different the the nose is to the stock A5M4 and the stripes are a bit gaudy.  I usually prefer plainer schemes, but I'm limited by what tail numbers I can cobble together from spares.  I can just manage to do 3-138 if I splice some digits together from a Saiun kit.

If you are not having exhibits there, they missed out on something.

Just finished the Wildcat, it is a great kit. Hopefully we see one of these in IL2 GB one of these days ;)

Great job! She turned out a beauty. I especially like how you could do the paneling on top of the stickers. Looks really great!

I love it.  Really nice!  It looks so tactile with the raised rivets.  I look forward to the end of that fashion where every kit represents a rivet with a deep counter-sunk hole.

Found a 1:48 DO 17 kit in a second hand store today. And a Defiant in same scale.

I wish I was good at this. Those planes are just my number 1 . After Swordfish and HE 115 and Arado 196

Ok they are not my no. 1 but still pretty high up there. After Catalina and Short Sunderland ofcourse . And maybe the Dauntless

Plastic crack addiction, you start with buying a single plastic model of something you liked as a kid and end up with several piles of shame... ?

Built this oddity in the last 10 days.

Again, lots of scratch building. Replaced half of the small parts, added some that were missing completely.

That propellor....it just doesn't look big enough.

It's a wonder that these old crates got off the ground.

It only has a 1 litre engine to crank it. But I agree, how it came off the ground certainly has something to to with the curvature of earth...

It reminds me of the Rotherham fuel pump on the Camel.

Thanks! Getting the decals to fit over the rivets was pretty nerve wracking. Lots of micro sol went on. But it turned out great in the end.

Thanks! The raised rivets really make the model stand out.

I'm expecting a visit from the Spanish Modelling Police at any moment.

I tried dry brushing, and I liked it.

Thanks!  I used artist oils rather than model paints, so the colour tinted the surface rather than caked over the corners.  I'm looking forward to trying it again as an easier alternative to pre-shading.

At least the Covid quarantine was useful for something ...

Please excuse the horrible light. I had to make do with a desk lamp whose light my camera does not like at all. ?

Finished these two at last. A tricky conversion but they worked out okay.  Trying hard to improve my painting!

Why not making a plane version of 'a ship in a bottle'?

A good excuse to consume the Nikka whisky until the very last drop. Otherwise the mini planes are just collecting dust on a shelf.
