Feathered_IV Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 It seems I blundered into a tier 1 exposure site the other day while picking some things up for work. A bit of self-isolating time has meant I get some extra time at the bench, so I guess there are plus sides to everything. 10
Motherbrain Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Primed. Hopefully the Humbrol Maskol I used on the windows works. 6 1

Birdman Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Slow progress on the Mitsubishi : clear coat + decals : Still got a bunch of tiny things to paint and then chipping and oils. 9
AKA_Big10 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Next one up is another P-51D Mustang. Doing an Iwo Jima bird. 8 1

Birdman Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 Calling the F1M2 done, quite an intense build for me but am happy with the results : Will probably do something a little less intense next haha 10 1

Buglord Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 You must have a big house Von....:P About time i done one of these......... Accurate Miniatures IL2-M3... Just added some Belts & slightly weathered this one... And nicked the Mig 3 Diorama for a few pics 8 2
Feathered_IV Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 Love the sturmovik. I've always felt kind of guilty for not having made one yet. Must add that to the list. Took the plunge and made the tail codes for the S.5 from plain white decal stock. I put it through a laser printer then cut the excess away to leave a thin white outline. Not perfect, but in my defence these little buggers are barely 1.5mm high. Onto the trolley next, and wondering how to do spoked wheels in 1/144. 5
Buglord Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 Thanks m8, Accurate Miniatures kits are really nice to work with, I had the IL2 in my stash for a long time.. working through my stash before i buy anymore. Working on the B-25G now which is actually an accurate miniatures re-boxed by Academy ... The detail on it is excellent. 52 minutes ago, Feathered_IV said: Onto the trolley next, and wondering how to do spoked wheels in 1/144. Errrrr Errrrr............... Now that`s a challenge.... 1 1
Rickrick123 Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 I remember all the great Airfix kits from 50 yrs ago.!

If that's a good enough assessment then call er done. Though, I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting a brief description of how your achieved that. Edited June 20, 2021 by 40plus 2 2
Feathered_IV Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 Hi 40plus, no worries! To quickly explain, I cut some acrylic discs then turned the hubs by superglueing them to the end of a drill bit and shaping/polishing them in my flexi drill. The hubs were centre drilled and a piece of tube inserted so they could be pinned dead centre on a 24-segment template that I made. After that I used a straight edge and a fine scriber to put the lines in and just worked my way around. Rubbing some artist oils into the scribes makes them stand out. I'm in two minds about whether to scribe the rear face of the hubs as well though. It might inadvertently create a sort of prism effect. 1 1 4
Birdman Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 That's some serious crafting! Meanwhile here, the next project has begun : 3
Buglord Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Getting through the B25 quite well, did not go into too much detail on the inside as you wont see it , used the Eduard cockpit set & mask set. 5
XQ_Lothar29 Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 I am very happy to see that the family in love with this hobby is growing a lot, I am happy to see new faces, and especially Children working with parents in this passion. I really am very happy to see the great community of modelers that we are in IL-2 GB Forum. Soon I will upload my next job, but I have been doing other things and I have not had much time for the Hobby. A lot of Force to all and I really liked many new planes. and see new faces
STN Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Just finised the Fiat. Apparently I need a lot of practice to do a decent night camo. The final flat varnish completely destroyed all of the paint nuances.Fiat CR.42 Regia Aeronautica, 377 Squadriglia Autonoma C.N.- Palermo Boccadifalco Italy 1942 1:72 Italeri 11 2
Feathered_IV Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Nice one STN. The finish looks very good to me. Beautiful photography too! Birdman you are going to the dark side with all that etch. I’m still trying to work out what the aircraft is. Is it a D.520? 1

I realized my hands aren't as steady as I thought lol, I don't know how you are able to work at such small scales. Yes, it's the Tamiya D.520 in 1/48. 1

One hand steadies the other most of the time. Also having lots of magnification is good. I keep coming back for another look at that PTO Mustang. The coral dust in the tyres is such a great detail. 1

I probably should had toned it down some but left it as it was. I really did enjoy the build and experimenting with the weathering. I have been told by some that it is too much but that is okay with me, some of these mustangs during the war got nasty and I do believe that most folks are accustomed to seeing bright and shinny airshow birds. That was my 7th Eduard Mustang so I will be tanking a break from them, next work is Tamiya's P-38 Lightening. 1
DEDMANcjp Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Covid project finally completed Alcock and Brown Vimy . First non stop Atlantic crossing. Also two other ocean beaters 15 1
