Good to all friends of Modeling! Since before Christmas, requests began to arrive to me to make happy parents, former military or airline pilots. After finishing my orders, I was able to dedicate myself to one of a friend.

This is where a Legendary plane comes in, the Fokker Dr.I, of course, my friend asked me to be, above all, Manfred Albrecht von Richthofen's plane.

As we all know, Von Richthofen, his favorite and most used mount was the Albatros D.I, Albatros D.II Albatros D.III and finally the Albatros D.V ..
But if I'm here, it's to show you my last two Jobs.

The first of all of the year 2021
Eduard Profipack 1/48, Fokker Dr.I
It really is a great model, not because of its size, since it really is very small compared to the 1/48 scale of WWII aircraft, even if we compare it, with its counterparts like the Albatros or the Fokker D.VII.

Without further ado, I hope you like the end result, the pity is that I don't have a good camera, I use a cell phone that is already old and does not capture the image with the sharpness that would be appropriate.

Anyway I have always said that photos never do justice to the Art of Static Modeling.

Continuing the thread from before, I repeat myself in a few words.

Friends of the Art of Modeling!
I present to you the LaGG-3 Series 4.

-In this case it is another Manufacturer from Eastern Europe, who has

me just as in love as all the others.
I could quote them, but I leave it for the End.

ICM 1/48 LaGG-3 Type 1-4.
It was hard for me to decide with the camouflage, basically because I

like to replicate aircraft camouflages that the Pilot's Name is known.

In this case, as I am going to do 3 more, since the model has three

different types of decals and ICM in its old mold models, they usually

come out very well in price.
in the end so I opted for the camouflage of:
3d GvIAP (Guard Fighter Regiment) Leningrad Area, Spring 1942.
White 64
Here are photos of the LaGG-3:

I wanted to get to this point, because for the first time, a beautiful

modeling market has opened, Thanks to Eastern Europe.

Specifically, I have to thank ICM, for replacing the transparent piece

with a new one, without charging me for the piece or shipping costs.

I love very much the task of these companies such as:

You do 3D printing for making the parts?

Posted

@XQ_Lothar29  ? ?

A bit more to do on my Ta 152 C, but RLM 76, 82 and the RLM 83 engine cover are done. RLM 81 remains to be done (fuselage and wings) as is the bare metal area underneath the wings/fuselage. Since I've done two RLM 81/82 camos in my last two projects (TA 183 1/48 and Me 262 1/72) I wanted a bit more variety so I let myself be inspired by Kurt Tanzer's very late Fw 190 D-9 (production batch of March 45, most probably of Focke Wulf Cottbus) with a few modifications.

Just from plastic card.  Much the same way as the two Pfalz scouts.  I’d like to learn how to do 3D printing one day though.  It looks ideal for small scale stuff.

I was of exactly the same mindset and ended up building my own 3D  DLP printer to play with - the process of designing, building and experimenting with it was interesting but in truth it gets very little use even though I work professionally as a miniature artist and model maker.

The reason being that a printer is little use with out high detail digital models to print, and that if the ultimate goal is to create physical models of obscure subjects that aren't already available from other sources, all too often it is faster to create those with plastic, wood metal and putty than by sitting in front of a computer.... though I suppose that comes down to an individual's skill set.

In truth I think that the majority of stuff I have 3d printed was stuff I first made as a physical model by hand, then scanned to reverse engineer the digital version, then printed out at a smaller scale... in effect I use my scanner and printer as a 3D photocopier more than for rapid prototyping things I haven't already got.

My best mate a pro modeller too has a SLA 3d printer and the quality depends on the polygons and 3d sculptor but as you can see he turns out great quality stuff such as The Wonder woman figure i did a few pages back .BTW that was from another guys mesh.My hat goes off to him.

I should point out though he dose his own Meshes too but WW was not his.

He never takes credit for other peoples work, his own speaks for himself.

See his great stuff a  Ian Lawrence Models site.

Very good kit, my only "regret" if you can call it that is I should have glued the wings to the fuselage before painting. Happy with the results though.

And now I go away from the Pacific and to Russia with this guy :

Session #4 of the rigging. I got the outer lines done on the silver one and got about halfway through the wings of the yellow nosed version. Really looking forward to getting these finished.

Oh god. The idea  of doing this rigging is keeping me from trying Eduard's Fokker D.VII. And that's in 1/72 scale. Doing this in 1/144?

Good news!  Aside from two little wires between the undercarriage, the D.VII doesn't have any rigging.  Have at it Sir!  :salute:

Yeah, no. I did take a closer look at those  struts in between the wings and fuselage/landing gear and they looked at me smugly with this expression "You know we're gonna break just to spite you". ?

Besides my stash  is pretty full already. Gotta dig into that one.

Finished!

I'm so glad these two are done. The last of the rigging was placed on the wings and tail. Plus a few other details from patches of painted decal to represent the fittings for the upper wing spars and the metal cap on the front of the spinners. The radiator tower thingies were made from evergreen strip and sprue then fixed in place with PVA. The last thing was to paint the periphery of the mating surfaces of the spinner & cowling with black artist oils. Once stuck together this gives a nice dark shadow..

I shuffled my little cabinet around to make some room and that's the end of it. Thank goodness!  Now lets never speak of them again.

These are not models, this is art...

Iˋm still working on my H0 Junkers F13. Slow progress. Turns out that over the last 30 years, the parts bent a bit and the interior, floor and bulkheads don‘t fit in the fuselage anymore. Too much sun in the display stand I guess. Always the same olˋ. You think it will be fine, but it won‘t. I‘ll habe to make a jig to bend the parts back in shape with careful heating.

Might have to pick this up. Looks like it's Michael Wittmann's Tiger with the Sherman Firefly that Joe Ekins used to blow it up.

There's also a new 109 G-6 kit with a rather eycatching nightfighter livery: https://uk.airfix.com/products/messerschmitt-bf109g-6-a02029b?

a02029b_2_me109g_liveries.jpg

Graf's Bf-109 G6 (with GM-1 mod), "green 1" you can actually do in several variants. First it came with 100% vanilla RLM livery (of course), then Graf had the tail painted in the same way his friend Grislawski had painted it, white with the RK (plus cauliflower) and his initials on top of that. They are generally too bringht in the decals, they should be gold with a rather dark outline. Also the necklace has a very particular "wrinkled" effect.

The Graf tulip and the unit badge of the "Rote Jäger" (his soccer team, the Nazis hated them being redm but that was the color of the shirts originally handed to them) came later.

You can see here

Spoiler

image.jpg

Graf having a good time in Wiesbaden with his freshly painted tail after he got fond of Grislawskis artwork. This was (I think) before the Schweinfurt raids. The same artist painted Grafs tail (this very tail) then, hence they look very similar. AFAIR, that rudder is on display now at the mueseum in Hannover-Laazen. You can see the last three stars on the victory bars being blue with a white outline, reflecting the three B-17 he got confirmed. But there is no tulip and there is no unit badge on the aircraft yet. They came shortly later.

What is commonly missing on renditions of the unit badge is the stenciled outline and the muzzleloader is often depiced wrongly (see also above):

I've been collecting pics of this lower livery for a some time now for a 109 i have on my bench. Some very nice older builds with that scheme around the traps as well.

Beau currently on the bench. Many hours of research hasn't turned up much excepting that it was serial LZ293 that was eventually with 236Sqn in march 1944 and crashed near Davidstow Moor a/f Cornwall in august 1944.
I have before seen the colour scheme referenced as an anti u-boat scheme used by a/c based at Davidstow moor, although, it may just be the coastal command scheme. Note the strip around the wing root. This was red doped fabric to seal the joint between fuselage and wing fairing.  Unfortunately i have no Beaufighter books in my collection and there just does not seem to be much info on the net about this plane at all.

Pics are a bit crappy owing to night time shed shots under terrible lighting. The Yagi Array in the lower picture is a wip scratch build item that needs some tidying up before painting.

Yes at 3 feet 1inch long it is a shelf filler all right.

This was a can it be done  experiment? ......Hope the answer is yes .....Gotta figure some internal structure so it wont droop under the weight of the engine booms.

Was thinking hollow carbon fibre tubes to allow for wiring.

Goddamit.... I don't know what happened. Looks like the varnish has activated the lower colour layer which is now eating its way through the upper one.

The lower layer is Tamiya X-4 and the upper one Mr. Color 308. Varnish- Mr. Color Superclear III.
Not sure what to do here. Try and give the areas one more coat of gray? Will the subsequent coat of varnish not again have the same effect?

I feel gutted.

That's unfortunate, STN...I don't have advice to offer.

Made the engine for the I-16:

And made it disappear:
