STN Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Thanks sallee, I actually made it as a present for a friend who is from Costa Rica. He does not know about it yet.
sallee Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Thanks sallee, I actually made it as a present for a friend who is from Costa Rica. He does not know about it yet. He is going to be very pleased! What a great thought.
I./JG1_Baron Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Not plane, but hope you like it - Pz.IVB (1:35, Tristar) 1 7
sallee Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Certainly do! That's excellent. The overall dirt effect is really well done. Any particular secrets? I know there's a lot of weathering products out there now.
No_85_Gramps Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Great looking panzer! Weathering is extremely well done! Thanks for sharing.
STN Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Also it has been quite some time since I saw a Slovak Crown coin
voncrapenhauser Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) Nicely finished Mustang there STN. Like I said before its great to see different models and in this case a really different scheme. Great work. Not plane, but hope you like it - Pz.IVB (1:35, Tristar) All models welcome. Loving the weathering on your panzer. Great job Baron. Beautiful Mosquito voncrapenhauser. Thanks for the great comments and pictures all. I had to build a wider shelf for the 1:24th Mossie too...Sheeesh! Edited April 13, 2015 by voncrapenhauser
Buglord Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) There`s some excellent builds here. Edited April 13, 2015 by Buglord
voncrapenhauser Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 You want different?, Here's something a little different. Pegasus Martian war machine I made, with a custom light system made by a good friend of mine. Shame you cannot see it but the Heat ray in the cobra head pulses just like the one in the movie. 1
voncrapenhauser Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 Cracking! You should sell those..... Already sold that 1 last year, I have so little storage or display space now sadly.
Buglord Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) Heres some of my work , i build 1/48 for aircraft & 1/35 for armour. Edited April 13, 2015 by Buglord 1 4

Buglord Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Cheers von. I like the look of your A-10 , im thinking of building a 1/48 hog soon but i want to do it in winter camo .. Snowhog More of the Mig 3... 1 2
voncrapenhauser Posted April 15, 2015 Author Posted April 15, 2015 (edited) Cool Mig....Nice. Yes plenty of schemes for the Warthog or Thunderbolt II dependent on your choice, I always preferred Warthog TBH. 48th sounds nice, In 32nd the weight needed in the nose to balance makes for one heavy model. Edited April 15, 2015 by voncrapenhauser
Danziger Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Love the whole scene with the mig. I really wish I had time and space to get back into modeling. I had a cool aerial fight hanging from the ceiling in my oldest boy's bedroom when he was little.
Cybermat47 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I've got a Ju-88 A-4 on the way, and a lot of models in a box
IRRE_Belmont Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Now i want to buy some models again... I hate you guys
[KWN]T-oddball Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) Sadly this is a dieing hobby when i was a kid we would go down to tom thumb and look at the hundreds of models and dream about buying the HUUUUUUGE kit for building the Bismarck, I had them hanging from my ceiling and sitting on the dresser , I don't think there are a lot of kids these days with patience and or interest Edited April 23, 2015 by T-oddball
Cybermat47 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I don't think there are a lot of kids these days with patience and or interest I know a few other people my age who make models. I don't think it's dying any time soon
-TBC-AeroAce Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I love modelling have a collection of around 50 kits iv collected over about 15 years but iv never started partly in fear of mucking them up and because of lack of funds. It's surprisingly expensive to get all the proper kit!!! Can anyone suggest a good airbrush/compressor that can do the job but won't bankrupt me!? Loving all ur work!!
voncrapenhauser Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) Hi Ace. Thanks for all the compliments. I bought the AS186 with 3 litre tank through Ebay from The spray gun company a few years back now and have had no complaints. TBH I had a smaller compressor with no tank that cost me £75 and it could not keep up with the air demand. You can get the AS186 for around £64, Just put AS186 Air brush in an Ebay search and it will give you many choices.. Shop around on Ebay though as you will see it for more than that in most places. Some will throw in a cheap Chinese air brush to. The one I got with mine is excellent for detail work and easy to learn with and very well made, I bought a larger Nozzle air brush for larger areas from an online company called "Little cars" at a model show. Both are double action Airbrushes and excellent quality. Honestly though you do not need to spend a lot on a compressor or airbrushes either these days. Good luck with the modelling, look forward to seeing the results. Edited April 24, 2015 by voncrapenhauser

I have been making models since I was about 7, I have a break now and then but always seem to come back to it. I know a few other people my age who make models. I don't think it's dying any time soon Dads with there sons usually pass on the Interest, all my mates make models and have also always done.

Finkeren Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) When I gave up scale-modeling at age 22 I had a stack of unfinished projects almost twice the size... Edited April 29, 2015 by Finkeren
Finkeren Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Gave it away to two young boys along with all of the finished models.
sallee Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Fair do's. Did they give you their big sister in return?
Finkeren Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I don't really believe in quid pro quo... Not that I would've refused if they had
von_Greiff Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 ....very nice stash!!! Do things because you do things not because of expecting something... yours v.Greiff
sallee Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 ....very nice stash!!! Do things because you do things not because of expecting something... yours v.Greiff Quite right.....even for a big sister.. The P51D has the markings for Short Fuse Sallee and I have the decals for Short Fuse Sallee for the P51C as well. Nice to be able to bring your childhood dreams to fruition when you're an old git! I have masks and markings to turn the Defiant night fighter into a day fighter as well...that saved a bit!
Leaf Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) Stash.jpg The joy of things to come! My stash.... What does your wife think of that? :D Also, I see a Beaufighter Mk VI, nice! I was thinking of buying that years ago. Edited April 30, 2015 by 19te.Leaf
sallee Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 What does your wife think of that? :D Also, I see a Beaufighter Mk VI, nice! I was thinking of buying that years ago. I think she thinks it's harmless enough! My son joins in by making his own models at the same time, so it works OK. The beau is lovely. I decided to make the aircraft of some of the pilots whose memoirs I enjoyed, so I have decals for John Cunningham's beau (actually Rawnsley and Wright wrote "Night Fighter" but it will do). Then the two P51s of Richard Turner, Heinz Knocke's 109, Richard Partridge's Skua etc. 1
Buglord Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) Stash.jpg The joy of things to come! My stash....
