Single player pwcg on dedicated server

Looking to get back into il2 in the next few days. I'm going to try pwcg and do a Luftwaffe career across as many theatres as possible.  Any recommendations for a Moscow fighter squadron that allows this?

 

I used to get a lot of slowdown in the in game career mode so thought I'd try running pwcg on a laptop and running the mission on dserver on the same laptop.  I think I will have to use the coop mode for this even though it will only be me playing.

 

Will I lose the ability to compress time and/or pause, even if it's only me on the server?

Are there any server commands that might help with this?

Choose any squadron you want.  It's a bit different from Career Mode in that there is no hard transition.  The campaign just keeps going.  Most of the German units are available throughout the war,  The Russian squadrons change name but that's all.  The personnel are the same and there is no action required on your part - it just happens.

 

PWCG currently supports Moscow to end of war.  I repurposed Stalingrad and Rhine maps to serve for 1944 and 1945 respectively.  As a Russian you will be disadvantaged because 1943 types are the latest you will have access to, but so it goes (fairly honest though as Yak 9s were used into 1945).  Anyhow, if you are starting at Moscow it will be awhile until you hit 1944  

 

Not sure about SP on coop.  I will say that PWCG was not explicitly written to handle the case but it might work out just fine.  You could start a coop career and just have one player.  It will look a lot like SP.  Recent changes to PWCG have brought SP and Coop closer together.

 

I don't know enough about DServer vs the game to say anything about performance.  Will let people more experienced with DServer weigh in.  However, I thought the servers were highly configurable so it would be your choice for the most part.

Thanks for the reply.  Wow I hadn't realised you can do that with Moscow.  As for the server, I think losing the ability to compress time would be worth it for smoother gameplay. So will see how I get on.
