I’m running a razor blade advanced model.  Specs are:

i7 9750

RTX2080max Q

16gb Ram

1gb SSD

I was getting great frames on max settings.  100+. FPS. I’m not using 4K or anything.  Just played a game with lots of clouds in single player and it would go down to 10fps.  This game is 7 years old.  Is there something I’m missing?  The RTX2080 max Q should blow away these numbers, right?  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

There was recently a large update to the renderer on top of a lot of other big updates in the last little while. Still, you are correct, that system should run the game fine.

The new renderer that caused issues with AMD cards and possibly Nvidia mobile cards. There is a thread for reporting issues with Nvidia mobile cards in the Technical issues forum, although I believe that was more for rendering problems and artifacts, not raw performance. It may be worthwhile to check the thread out.

Possibly stupid question - are you sure the laptop is using the RTX 2080 for rendering, or is it possibly using the onboard graphics? I know that a few users have had issues where after a windows update to Windows 10 has randomly switched to using the integrated graphics on the motherboard instead of the discrete GPU.
