Reminds me of the Atlas launch I witnessed from KSC in November '16.

We (well, they) launched right at the last possible time in the launch-window after delaying three times or so.

But it was a beautiful night-launch and you could actually see the MECO a long, long way downrange.

Very cool! I whish I had seen and felt a Shuttle (or even a Saturn) launch...

We had flown down to Titusville in a Piper Warrior with a broken heading-gyro.

Made for an interesting (night) flight back up the coast...

Why the shuttle missions Atlantis , Endeavor..... did not go to orbital the moon meanwhile they have enough autonomy?
‘If you go to the top of the mountain and put a flag any where can be seen for everyone, the view side of the moon , you do not go to the Everest to put a flag any where hide can be not seen ?

China has arrived to the moon 2019 view side and hide side with robots but has not mentioned already NASA was there ?

‘Van Allen discovered the radiation belts in 1957 and was terminated from NASA in the 60’s for his arguments.

Ray if I take the history of the Spanish empire as an example then it would appear that he who conquers the moon ends up cornering the European fresh salad market.?

China conquers the Moon with satellites and robots between 2018 & 2019 with the technical and financial support  of NASA and the European Space Agency to say EEUU never was there .

Spanish know who & how was conquered Cuba and Philippines to us in 1898 .

(And the Cristians burn Rome whith Nerón and the Muslims NY ? No?. ) Also know how conquers Irak & Afganistan:

It's G & T weather.

The problem is we won't see the first pass over us as it's too light.

The second pass will be around 10.15 p.m.  By then I'll be too pissed relaxed to take photo's of anything except my feet!:)

I'd love to go and see a launch one day.......as long as it does not involve a night flight in a bloody Piper Warrior!

Hey, it was me flying - what could go wrong? ?

I have actually seen the Atlas-launch from KSC, and another launch (no kidding, from inside a Warrior - the HI was up and running that time, though!) while flying.

It was nice of somebody on Orlando Center pointing out the launch on radio, so our heads swung out, everybody was grabbing their phones and even Otto wasn't flying the airplane.

The sun had already set (we were coming back from Venice after dunking our butts into the Gulf - just before realizing we didn't have any change pants, so we flew back full commando ? )  and the rocket and the exhaust-plume started getting irradiated by the higher-altitude sun still shining.

Positively magical.

Either way I also doubt that it just happened, but was "pulled" intentionally.

Other thing that crossed my mind, they seem to run pretty rich, like they're burning LFO or something

The loss of signal at two critical points was strange indeed. The landing of the motor and the second stage separation was also cut.:scratch_one-s_head:

There is almost always a loss of signal when the F9 lands on the drone ship, something to do with plasma from reentry interferes with the signal.

I just have to say.

That was pretty awesome.

Apparently the intense vibration at touch down breaks the transmitter lock between ship and satellite.
