Planes pop up with clouds on background?

Is it me alone? I thinks this update is very nice, I love it, but why do planes change their shape and form against clouds? I've tried everything to no avail, changing MSAA to FXAA and viceversa, changing cloud quality. Is it only me?

That's been a problem since the beginning. Obviously deferred shading doens't help that particular issue.

It's much better than it used to be.

A limitation of the graphics engine. At higher cloud settings it is less noticeable but there is a problem with the aliasing against clouds.

Yes, I know it's been a problem since the beginning, but in IMHO it's worst than ever now. For example, in quick missions, if the clouds are a couple of kilometres under the planes, everything is perfect. Yet, when the clouds are one kilometre or less under the planes, these (the planes) start to look like fleas, dots, horrible shapes... I thought this last hotfix could solve or improve this problem, but I see it still remains ?

IMHO in 4.005 was much better.

I've flown 4 or 5 sorties online now (Combat Box and WOL) where I haven't seen a single distant contact. Only close contacts or contacts I was flying directly above, and contacts near clouds.

All my kills were from easily spotting planes that were against the clouds and then bouncing them.

4.005 was much better on my system too. I started a thread with the issues I'm having, but I'm sure the AMD graphics bugs have been the main priority for the devs. They do a good job of sorting out problems and tweaking stuff so let's see.

So easy to spot against the clouds

Since the last update I also witness a kind of "Halo-Effect" around the aircraft against clouds. While the AA problem with the aircrafts against clouds we had so far was annoying, this new problem is utterly destroying the overall atmosphere.

Same here. I'm on a 1060 GTX.

I rather see them against clouds instead of them beeing swallowed. Even if it looks weird, its more closer to how good a human eye could detect an aircraft against the cloud.

Finally some SA. Was about time. Dont complain too much. Otherwise we have "one pixel" contacts again because some one tripped over a piece of spagetti code the power cable again.

I am with Sheriff. The white contrast of the cloud against the aircraft might also make the contact more visible.

Spotting contacts from afar isn't a bad thing. But if You fly close formation in heavy weather, it's annoying. Had this case in the second mission of the Lightning Strikes campaign. I was following the lead for half an hour to the target through heavy weather while all the time he had this gloriole around his saintly aircraft.

Right, when coulds are the background should be pretty easy to spot him.

But not when he's inside the could!

Actually seems like that if he's below and you above (or viceversa) clouds hide him, but if he fly through it's super easy to see him

Its worse for sure, planes look real bad against the clouds, hope this new engine allows the team to finally fix this issue.

But to me now looks a lot worse than before , at least in VR.

It's a really bad bug,  completely destroys the game when there are clouds as you can just pop up to cloud level and look around to find other ac, and flying into clouds online is a sure way to get spotted rather than the opposite.  It's a little crazy to see in a flight sim, I hope as well the devs are working on it.

I think , but not totally sure, that this solution that worked for me MIGHT help: I made sure that my Steam /config files were written as suggested in the "Copy & Paste" postings here. Then I adjust my sliders in settings in the video & general settings in the SteamVR desktop pop-up to about 170. I use the Pitool with Pimax5k so this "solution " may be unique to me.. I think my FPS may have suffered a bit, but all around clarity is dramatically improved and  halo seems to be gone as well As usual make sure you've saved everythingor remember where your best settings were in game & out...Keep fingers crossed!
