A20B elevator trim problems (And overly sensible P-40 elevator)

Hello :)

Recently got the A20 campaign and wanted to get into that plane now. Does its elevator trim function need a "physical" axis to function? My momentary bindings (buttons / hat) work on other planes like the P-40 but do nothing here. Aileron and rudder trim responds - pitch doesn't no matter what I bind it to.

And ... there's a second problem:the negative elevator trim works fine on the P-40 but the positive trim is overly sensible. The lowest I can go is 6% and it quickly jumps to 100% afterwards. It works as intended in other planes like the P-47. Am I missing something with the P-40?

for a20, you do not need a physical axis defined(nor for p40/p47) but you do need settings put in the trim axis settings in controls (as well as for the button settings). Best bet is to have same settings in both buttons and axis if you do not have physical axis on hotas, buttons will work fine.

If it works for p40/p47 it ought to be working for the A20.

Any aircraft cockpit which has a trim wheel (for any axis) will use the trim axis setting, but you do not need to have an actual axis. Any aircraft which used buttons (ie190 for stabiliser or pe2) will use the trim button control but will not use the trim axis setting so both need to be defined (even if identical).

For your other problems - don not know why they seem inconsistent - however if you also have a HOTAS axis defined as well as buttons they will interfere with each other. So problem for one a/c will be affecting others - you may have a clash in your key selections - check the info to see for your trim.

hope this makes sense and helps. I would put up a screen shot of my control but do not have access to that machine at present (it uploading data)

Thanks for the reply!
This is really weird ... why can I control my trim on the P47/P40 and not the a20 with the same settings? Once I bind a rotary axis from my throttle I can trim pitch. Sadly the potentiometer is broken so I can't use it. I even had the switches bound with the same result.

I just re-bound everything and restarted the game. Let's see ...

Here are my bindings:

//edit:
I can't believe it. Dumped two hours yesterday in trying every combination ... and now "delete, rebind, restart" solved everything. :P:P:P

well at least you got it working. So good to go.

My eyesight no so good so its quite hard to see your binding list - however if I have seen it correct. You have both an axis and buttons set for the stabiliser but not for rudder/aileron/elevators. There may come a point where this setting wont work for any allied planes (there are not many affected though) that have cockpit buttons/levers for these control. Purely off top of head one of the pe2 variants may not work cos it does not use a trim wheel. If this happens just copy the axis settings into the left/right/up/down as you have done for the stabiliser at the bottom of the screen. If short of controls you can actually use the same controls setting for elevator trim as you have for the stabiliser - no plane has elevator trim and stabilisers so no clash.

If you potentiometer was bust - but you had it enabled that maybe why you had the odd results between planes. Does p40 positive trim operation now ok as well.
