Would it be possible to not reset Quick Mission Builder settings with every update and hotfix? Currently all the weather, targets, map, situation and aircraft settings are back to defaults after every game patch.

Seeing how QMB is getting some love recently, I'm bumping this request. Please don't forget about this little quality of life improvement :)

Is it possible to back up those files and restore them with JSME?

It is really painful to have to reconfigure my favorite battle settings each time there is an update.

Do anyone know where the config is stored?

Is it enough to backup the QMBSETTINGS files?

I can see why they do it though - it's a sure way to avoid incompatible settings if there's a change in the backing data structure. Much safer to reset than try to make compatibility checks that could end up being more complicated for no reason.

Yet they do not reset your graphics or joystick settings with every update, even though they could use the same argument ;)

Not quite. For one the video/controls config data is considered sacred, if you invalidate those between updates you get pitchforks and torches outside of the castle really quick. While the QMB is not such a big deal on one hand and on the other it is likely a struct that holds the data for the QMB generator which, as we saw with this update was changed to add more options and finer control over time of day plus whatever other parameters the QMB reads to generate the mission after you press continue.

Btw, I'm not saying they shouldn't change this behaviour, just that I understand why they do it.

Qmbsettings are just text files.

I just tried and now i will backup  qmbsettings with the different configuration of skirmish i like through JSME. It will allow me to swtich faster from one config to another.

I quite like it.

I am aware that it might end up totally messed up after a new patch but with JSME it is easy to revert.
