Im getting some government help since covid destroyed my employment.  Thank god theyre helping.  Soo im tempted. Hard.

To get a desktop, vr, and a new joy.

Whats the best balance of price, ability, etc?

Im not gonna be cheap but itd be nice if the comp doesnt habe to be a 2g comp.to run vr..?

Suggestions on deals and whatnot? On equipment?

If you guys need a loose budget ask. Ill figure it oit.  My laptop works.. but its getting old.  Its not evem supposed to run il2 and dcs im told lol. It does though.  But.. this is my chance.

Also anyone whose helped me in the past that would like some help msg me. You know who u are.

I would save some bucks by not going for the 9700k and going for the 9600k instead. I'm not up to date with AMD but with some of the stuff they've been putting out lately I would seriously consider.

 

I just got a Rift S and totally recommend it except for its speakers, you'll want to use extra headphones or earbuds. Also, does the gladiator still use plastic gimbals? if so, get something a little better that won't wear out that soon.

 

I also use a 2070super for VR and runs great, not everything completely maxed tho so don't expect that unless you spend some reeeaaally serious money.

 I guess I am going to tell you something different than the others so far - you did ask for advice (though this may be not what you want to hear, and I am sorry if it is).

 

I know from your posts in the past that things aren't/weren't great for you financially, and now this -- loss of employment, but government assistance. My advice to you is to hang on to that money (at least for now) and not throw it (or much) into luxury items (though the temptation may be great). You may indeed find that you really wished you had it back if other priorities arise in the future.

There were warthog joysticks for 150€ on amazon.de before this pandemic, i just checked it again and they boosted price to 285€ which is way way overpriced for that joystick.

For that money you can almost buy VKB Gunfighter LoL!

But give it a little search maybe some other retailers still sell it on prepandemic/realistic price of 130-150€!

I also give a look on pc components.....seems prices are getting back to normal slowly, month ago i7 9700k was 485€, now it's 400€ while prepandemic price was 325€!

Thats what ive been leaning towards. But im legally gttn the covid relief and second its a ridiculoys amt of money to me 

Third the fact the 2nd stimulus check passed in the house.. if that passes ill prolly cave.

Otherwise i appreciare your advice it wasnt what i was lkg for but was perhaps the wisest and what ive beem doing irl.  Ive been sort of in shock.   I bought an oz of you know and got my som a bunch of online nonsense they likke now and cash apped my mom money.. but it was like a few hundo.  Youd think id have gone nuts. It doesnt feel real.

Honestly if i got input id get a warthog fot hotas OR the copy of a fw190 joystick because its the coolest thing ever. Actually yes i would def do that. Maybe rudder pedals since. This joy wont twist. Ugh idk abt throttle then either.  Hmm.  See my 40 dollar joystick this isbt abt cm i play f14 dcs il2 box.. my next best is uh1 slick / casevac flyinf. Buildinf a desktop so its not inordinarely expensive yet not insanely complex to get excellent graphics and everuthing else. It doesnt need to be a eniac of the 2020s but wtf we are going big.   Every one i know whose simmed wirg vr said trackir is nothing and refuses to go back.

I was born in 1985. My generation was basically promised by you old ppl we.d have this 20 yrs ago. I want my vr sexbot already wtf!  I demabd vr capability.

How bad are we getting on the price now?

It also depends on what can you reuse from current pc rig!

So if you can reuse pc case/tower, PSU and SSD it will leave you with ~250-400€ for cpu, 100-250€ mobo, gpu 500-700€ and ram ~100€, 50-150€ for cpu fan.

 

But as i said in last post this may be bad time to upgrade pc as most popular retailers boosted prices up to 50% on pc components during this pandemic due to demand.

But there may be retailers with normal prices if proper search is done.

 

Post your current pc specs (pc tower brand and model, psu model and wattage, ram, cpu, gpu) and budget for pc rig alone here and someone will help you to squeeze the most out of it!
