Difficulties reaching top speed with Yak9

Hello,

I've made the test on Kuban autumn. I can't get it faster than 534kph, while the top speed indicated in specifications is 537kph.

You will tell me "it's only 3kph slower". Yes, but I can reach 530kph with Yak7 while the top speed indicated is 526.

Aircrafts are generally a bit faster than what is written in specifications, on the autumn map.

For those both aircrafts, I had those settings, which clearly seems to give the best speed:

2550rpm

85% mixture

50% water rad (over and uder generate more drag)

50% oil rad (closing is reduce the drag but it's not a big deal)

With the Yak1b I can reach 530kph (while 530 are indicated in specifications). This one require full mixture for maximum speed, and the more you close your water rad, the more you decrease its drag. I had 530kph with 30%.

Am I doing something wrong?

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. 535 is about what I got. I used 2600rpm but that's the only difference.

Dont have Yak-9, but in Yak-9t closing oil rads gives missing speed, also are you using 70% fuel,it seams they give speeds for that values in specs for Yak-9.

This is what i see from in game data in ai folder for Yak-9 (red ) and Yak-9T (blue):yak99tsped.jpg.5a8b63fe8959583614421c472a8421b4.jpg

yak99tclb.jpg.c01a045e5a088742fee0bcd6df7b40c7.jpg

Also Yak-9s have highes max dive speed of any vvs made fighter in game, brakes (starts losing contol parts) around 820-830kmh.

Also best turn at deck for Yak-9 it says 16.9s at 270kmh and for Yak-9T 18.2s at 300kmh.

I used 300L which is not far from 50%.

I'll check with oil rad closed/almost closed.

I was doing 533 with Yak-9T at 50m with 2550rpm, 80mix, defalt trim, wt rad 50% oil 50%, and when i closed oil at 0% i was doing 536, so it give me 3kmh.

Yeah with close to 0% oil I got the advertised speed, and 50% water, but I don't think it's sustainable owing to overheat?

Also in file where you can see speeds its said speeds are got with 1/2 (50%) closed watter rads and 2/3 (66%) closed oil rads.

So if you have Yak-9 with 70% fuel, 50% wt rads and 33% oil rads, you should be getting speeds they have on autopilot on autum kuban map.

Still from the "paper", Yak9 should be 11km/h faster than Yak7. So I was excepting about 540 kph with Yak9 on the autumn map (as I can get 530 with Yak7).

I dont know what papers they used, but before patch in yak-7b on low alt i was doing 526kmh, now i can do 534kmh, so compared yak-9 to previous version of yak-7b it was 11kmh faster , now its only 3kmh ?

Its early yak-9 not mutch to expect even 109f4 at combat speed will eat it alive, until late war yaks there is realy no point in taking them when you have La5FN as option if performace vs axis airplanes is objective.
