Gunter_Severloh Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Check this out, never knew this, pretty good read https://medium.com/war-is-boring/stuka-and-sturmovik-the-aircraft-that-inspired-the-a-10-8c8d885d61db 1
Raven109 Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 (edited) You could add the Duck to this family. Maybe not as famous (no sirens, no heavy armor like the Sturmovik was known to have, although it also had a bath-tub), but designed in the spirit of the CAS mentality. Edited May 15, 2020 by Raven109
Gunter_Severloh Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 Your referring to the Henschel Hs 129, or the Grumman J2F Duck which im guessing would be the Duck (J2F-6)?
Lusekofte Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 It inspired maybe. Stuka was a product inspired by a us naval double decker A 10 is a development made due to experience made from countless conflicts since ww2. Corsair in Korea mohawk and bronco in Vietnam. Design is a line of events since brother s wright took the first flight. A 10 with engines away from fueltanks And a big gatling gun proved to be the way to best fly slow and low over enemy. In Iraq they cleaned up a Bronco to do slow recce. 1
Rodwonder Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 (edited) This... Douglas A-1 Skyraider is the direct predecessor of the A-10. Edited May 17, 2020 by Rodwonder 1
Tyberan Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 The Skyraider now that's a beast of a plane, larger bomb load then a B17.
Blooddawn1942 Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 It has the same engine as the P-47, hasn't it? Anyway... I would love to have this beast for DCS.
