They say it's bad luck to change the name of a ship and they sure had bad luck. "Lost on 9 September 1980 during Typhoon Orchid, 44 people (42 crewmen and two wives) killed" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MV_Derbyshire Could be something in that naming superstition.
