Well after 18 years and way too many hours to calculate I am going to upgrade my CH rudder peddles.  I noticed a month ago that finely I was loosing a bit of my right rudder to stutter, pretty sure the pot is dying after all its use. I am not heart broken really because I never liked how close my feet were together.  The desk I now use makes it even more difficult where I have to push my knees about 2 feet apart causing my feet to have to contort to work the peddles.   I have been thinking of upgrading for about two years and have put on order a Slaw Device Dora V2 which I should be hearing back from him in about 2 weeks.  As for a HOTAS set up I Currently am using Saitek x55 and thought what a better time to work on upgrading that also.

The bug caught me and after a week plus of comparing Virpil and VKB sticks I decided to go with VKB Gunfighter.  I ordered the Gunfighter Mk.III ‘Modern Combat Edition’ with a KG12 WWII Combat Grip (Stand-Alone) for a truer WW2 experience; they should arrive by Monday. I want to have very little contact with my keyboard so until I get a better set up for a throttle control I will probably go with the MCG grip.

Now for my dilemma: Looking for a Throttle control I ran across Kanttorin Kone Throttle Console via the web and think that is what I would like to go with but then snooping around here I discovered VGLs Throttle. I know that Kone is using the same levers for the throttle that VGL makes so I am sure the quality of both are great.  I guess my question is does anyone have knowledge of which work out better in the long run? I know one question people will probably ask "What type of aircraft do you normally fly?" The answer is I almost exclusively fly WW2 aircraft very little modern stuff and once in a very infrequent while I will load up my Microsoft flight sim X. Kone's leaves little to customizing and in this case for me that may be a better choice because I will constantly change my mind until I am 99 years of age and he no longer makes them and I am no longer able to push the buttons let alone work the throttle.  As for VGLs throttle does anyone have suggestions on what may be a good set up, keep in mind as mentioned I would like to keep my hands off the key board and fly  IL2 1946, IL2 Great battles and DCS (primarily WWII aircraft in DCS) with a little flight sim X.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I've got a GVL throttle unit and I love it.  I fly GBS and DCS in VR and I have just about everything assigned across my throttle unit and MSFFB2 stick.  All plug and play; no need for third party software.  I've used mine almost daily for nearly two years with no problems at all.

I can't tell you anything about the Kanttorin Kone throttle as I don't have one. However, it seems to have an equally good reputation and I believe uses GVL components too.

I can't really give you a recommendation on an exact model to choose.  GVL will build you just about anything you want at very reasonable prices.

Something to consider carefully.  Good luck:salute:

S!

I am using Kanttori's throttle. It uses GVL parts with the external design being Kanttori's own. I have updated my throttle with parts I feel are useful for me. Those very minor problems I had were dealt with fast, so customer care has also been top notch.

Going GVL or Kanttorin Kone is more or less down to what you want and what needs you have. I might buy a switch box from GVL, need more buttons?

If You on VKB I recommend You to get and istall Space SOFT CAMs.
IMO Space SOFT CAMs are not linear, they are "more linear" than Avia soft CAMs. The standard Avia soft CAMs have weak centering force and are too hard at the edge of deflection imo. So it gives You sensation of flying in floppy bird insead of a WWII era warbird. A paperplane sensation because You don't need too use trim at all. Installing Space SOFT CAMs fixed this issue for me.

As Flanker says, the choice for GVL or Kanttorin Kone depends very much on personal likings.
I'm using Kanttorin Kone's console now for 2 years and like it a lot. It left me nothing to wish for in terms of dials and switches. This console was build more or less fore IL-2 but works also great in a sim like DCS.

And, of course, you don't have to follow the bindings that Kanttorin shows on his website. For me, the (standard?) switches for gear (4/3) and flaps (6/5) does not work. In VR I was always moving the throttle when I tried to reach these switches so I program them to switches 44/43 and 46/45 in all sims.

Also a great plus, on his website he gives extensive information on programming the console.

If you can wait the delivery time ? I can only recommend this console.
