VR Zoom on a slider 0 through 10X

Having used 3Dmigoto mod to get 10X zoom in VR and realizing THAT it finally allows me to spot and ID planes like I'm playing on a monitor makes me only wish more for that mouse scroll / slider style zoom we have available to the flat screen player base. It would be an amazing addition to have zoom capabilities to match what we have on a monitor. Please, and thank you!

I love VR and its versimilitude to reality. A ficticious zoom function goes against the grain in my mind. I would much rather that they work towards finding a solution to the ubiquitous spotting irregularites. Once we can rely on being able to spot contacts within a known distance and for that contact to stay visible all the way down to 'in close' then artificial aids like zoom will be redundant.

 

I guess it depends on whether it's a game or a simulation for you.

I would prefer a simulation, but then everyone on a monitor has a magic zoom button and can twist their head around like an owl.

10x zoom on a monitor is too much, both for realism and that it just wouldn’t be usable. The zoom view is there to compensate for monitor FOV and size and add resolution to simulate 20/20 vision. It’s not supposed to be a telescope to see other aircraft from unreasonable distances.

OK, so your making the case to limit monitor zoom? Sure just match VR zoom and lets see how many complaints start rolling in. Maybe there is a middle ground.

Monitor zoom is fine as it is. It generally matches what’s available in other flight sims. I don’t know about VR. Sure it sounds like it could be larger.

The important thing to note with this picture is that the VR 10X zoom is thanks to a mod, not direct support in game. I'm hoping the developers will look at both a strike a new balance to what we have now without having to use mods. Especially as they are updating the graphical engine. I would love to be able to use a slider as I can on a monitor.
