nihalmurth Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Is there an option to increase the number and type of the airfield AAA? I got chased back to my base in a P-38 by 7-10 109s/190s and the two LMG AAA units couldn't really help me much. Thanks
Columbar Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Try set Ground Desinty in Simple config to high, in Advanced config/Mission Limits - MG spacing - 1000m and Airfield MG -1. But for me - this add only few more MGs. A few people here (including me :-) ) complained about lack of flak around the airfields and Patrick somewhwere wrote that he would deal with this in future.
PatrickAWlson Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Something can be done but it has not risen to the top of the queue yet. I believe on "high" there will be 5 AA units generated. Problem there is that more of everything else will be generated too so the person doing the setting has to be sure that his setup can handle it. Obvious answer is to simply add AA units around the player's field and maybe the fields of any flights participating in the mission. Just had an idea ... at the moment AA is only placed in spots around the field. There are a limited number of these spots. I think the thing to do is to extend the AA along the approach paths, which really was done. This way I can add AA without worrying about clogging the actual field. You know what your approach is - it's right on the map - so if you want to shake EA then fly that path.
Kur12 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 It is necessary to strengthen the protection of not only your airfield, but also the enemy airfields, too. Enemy aircraft approaching for landing are also an easy target, anti-aircraft guns cannot protect them.

Every airfield for every flight in the game will have AA, and the level of accuracy will be higher than the usual novice. Airfields that are jot active for the mission will not have the added protection. 3 2
TheSNAFU Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 (edited) This will add some more realism not to mention protection. Yesterday on the way back to my base I came across a j88 landing. I decided to attack it and while one AA gun was firing it was far from a deterrent to singlehandedly attack an enemy airbase. This will make it much better. Thanks Pat Edited May 11, 2020 by TheSNAFU

Good news: i wrote the code and tested it tonight and it works better news: Murleen has another change waiting that will do even more Bad news. The game just completely crapped out on me as I was flying. Because it is a hard stop there is no way to know what the problem really was, however, I suspect we are hitting and surpassing max objects. I have long. long blown past previous warnings but this time I think I might be getting told in no uncertain terms that enough is enough. So, we'll see. I'll work with Murleen to try to bring the best of both changes while keeping the game up and running. 1
