  1. 1. Coming with the new generation damage system, would You like a new updated fire model, where fire causes skin damage and structual weakening and also, cutting fuel supply to an engine on fire is effective ?

    • Absolutely , that is a great idea !

I dont think this will be a very difficult task ( I may also be wrong ) , but I belive that it will improve this sim's already good damage model and give some planes a chance to return their damaged plane to base

Thanks for your vote !

I would like it, but I don´t think that Devs will do it. Too much work and no money from it. Also, I think that if you are on fire, you don´t look to your skin and I think, that fuel supply and structural weakening are modelled, but maybe I´m wrong.

Some points to mention:

1. In IL-2 1946, (some) planes have fire extinguishers for the engines. Planes that are in/planned GBs are Hs-129 B-2, and Mosquito.

2. Cutting the mixture and fuel to an engine when it's on fire reduces the fire intensity in reality.

3. The fire visuals and effects in CloD seem more realistic than in IL-2 GBs. However, in update 3.006, the fire visuals were greatly improved upon to be more realistic than before. Hopefully they can be improved upon more. In CloD fire does cause damage, but likely needs to be improved, e.g. too slow on some planes, and few other areas on that issue that need and hopefully will be improved in the next installment.

Edit: the fuel tank exploding, especially on a bomber, normally (for some reason) leads to ALL of the crew dying.?

There is already a fairly good fire model... but they aren't always good at documenting or communicating the features of the sim unfortunately.

I would love for the proceedure of, turning off the engine and fuel then diving down to extinguish an engine fire, to actually have a function in the game. If there is no structure damage that is fine. But having the option to at least put out the fire is something I have long wanted.

I've put many an engine fire out on the 262 by dropping the nose and gaining speed, so putting fires out is at least possible!

I have seen that , but I have never put out a fire on a piston engine

I'm pretty sure that they will be working on a more complex fuel systems management this year, which will probably have an impact on fires and how they interact with fuel tanks.

I definitely dont think the damage decals will change in the near future since they were just worked on.
