So I bit the bullet and lashed out on a new rig, namely to get back into flight sims and to try VR. First time I got il2 going was just wow and I am still getting over how good the immersion is (far better than I expected obviously). I doubt I’ll ever go back to a normal screen. I fly fixed wing aerobatics in the real world so this is a nice accompaniment.

Now for my issue. I’ve been playing with graphic settings over and over but still haven’t logically been able to alleviate cockpit stutters. By this I mean when I move my head side to side, forward back, it is as if I am getting about 10-15fps. Looking at the in game FPS counter its typically hovering around 55 - 60 on ultra settings. Whats more everything outside seems to be hopping along at 55-60 too, its just the damn cockpit redraw when I move my head! Note: looking is fine, its only the leaning around that mucks things up.

My system:

- Ryzen 5 3600
- RTX 2070 SUPER

- 16GB DDR400 3000mhz

- Lenovo Explorer WMR

- M2 SSD

Might be obvious but have you tested with vsync on?

Thanks for the hot tips. Vsync was on, but still no dice. After heaps of playing around I realized that when I got the FPS above 90, the cockpit became smooth.

I hit up the Fenris settings and could 70+ but still lumpy... got me thinking the refresh rate might be the culprit. It’s locked at 90hz for WMR headsets in SteamVr, buuut if you go into the headset settings in windows 10, you can drop the refresh to 60 Hz. Bingo, solid 60 Fps, ultra settings, smooth as butter.

Man I love this game.
