Beebop Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Scenario: You must stop a stolen Russian train with a consist of volatile explosives (tank car train) before it gets to the port of Tulapse. If you fail, when it arrives it explodes causing massive damage to the dock area. Now I have succeeded in when the train arrives at the port spur a battery of Russian artillery fires at it and destroys the tank cars (as well as most of the train). However the damage is limited to the train, not the surrounding area. (Complex Trigger/On Object Entered/Germany [the train] Event Linked to Master Timer Trigger > TLinked to individual Timers set at different times > OLinked to artillery pieces) Question, is there a way to set off say an SC2500 bomb like the 11 carries without using the 111 as the delivery system or is there some other large "explosive device/mechanism" that would destroy scenery? Could I set an SC2500 laden 111 to spawn 1 meter above the ground and trigger the spawn with the Complex Trigger no used to fire the artillery? Thanks even if there is no solution.
Sketch Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 What you want us the illusion that a bomb went off... Not the bomb itself. Always think like this as a designer, "How can I make it seem real?" Because, that's all you are... Is an illusionist wizard. So with that thought in mind... Why don't you try to stack an HE111 inside a building. Then when the train gets to the building, you use a repair MCU to destroy the building and the big HE111. Both go boom, and the player believes that a bomb went off!

So if I understand what you're saying, having the SC2500 bomb itself go off may not be possible or even practical. So for a catastrophic dockyard explosion I could set several He111's in different buildings to all go off together. This visual is more Hollywood than realistic anyway. I'll look through the manual on how to use the Repair MCU and I'll give it a try. Oh. Thanks for that info Gambit. Back to the drawing board. Edited May 6, 2020 by Beebop
Nolly Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 My suggestion: Destroy the train car using damage command and activate a fire on it. Put a message up or write in the briefing that the explosives will "cook off" in the flames so it's mentally suggested to the player. Simultaniouslly spawn a neutral 111 with a 2500 at 10000m (or it's service ceiling)that will fly directly forward and attack ground at the fire, then despawn. If you experiment you may be able to spawn him, emerg ordinance drop using force complete and then despawn him all in a few seconds. Tweak the timing and stuff so that the 111 is alive for the minimum possible time, and the bomb hits as soon as possible after the fire starts. Possibly tune the weather so the contrails are not as visible, and make a message pop up on the screen at about bomb impact time(to distract the player so he's not looking directly at the target, then he won't see the falling bomb) Also please write "simulating explosions" or something in your thread titles rather than something non descriptive, so people can see how you managed to do it in future? I don’t know what’s coming and what isn’t, but they were kind enough to make the colored signal smoke that I asked for (for the campaign)
