Padlock not working. Please help...

I am new to this game and I can get padlock to work sometimes, but then it quits working. Sometimes it will work for the first couple of engagements and then it won't lock on to anyone anymore. Sometimes it won't work at all period. I'm pretty good at dogfighting with padlock, but without it I'm lost. Any suggestions?

Are you doing this online or offline? I say this because some servers restrict padlock views, and some do not.

I'm using padlock online and offline. The problem happens regardless. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work. It's hit or miss. A friend of mine created a server and the same thing happens in there as well. The strange thing is that padlock seems to always work if I hit F2, F3, or F4, but those aren't views I would use in combat. I use F1 (cockpit) view naturally, and padlock doesn't work for that view much for some reason. It's hit or miss.

I've never really used padlock view so I'm not sure how it functions. But maybe padlock view only works if the target you have padlocked would be visible from your cockpit? LIke for example, if the plane you have padlocked gets at your low-6oclock and you can't physically see it from the cockpit, you lose padlock and have to reengage?

When it doesn't work, I could have an enemy right in front of my nose and it wouldn't matter. It won't lock on regardless. When it does work, you can padlock on someone regardless of whether they are on your 6 o'clock, 12 o'clock, below, or above you. In another game I play called Aces High III, I can only padlock when the enemy is in sight, but once they are it stays padlocked. It's the same with this game, but with this game you can padlock when an enemy isn't in sight as long as they are close enough. When it does work in this game, it works great. But the problem is that sometimes it doesn't work at all. 

One of the reasons I bought this game recently was because I found out it had a padlock feature just like Aces High III has and Fighter Ace used to have. It's like a built in Track IR. Hopefully I will hear from costumer service soon and find out what the problem is so it can get fixed.

I have had the opposite problem a couple times. I try to unlock the gunner position for my friend to use the seat and I can unlock the gunner seats but the plane will not show on the list as available. So the issue with the locking or unlock is quite odd.

I've reinstalled the game twice and am still having the same issue. Hopefully customer service will attempt to help out soon. Very disappointed in this game so far simply because of the padlock issue.
