Rift S - cant center the view, and camera floats in a weird way

Hi guys,

So I got my vr rig a few months ago. Before i mention the problems, it works perfectly in every game, be it on Oculus store, or in Steam VR. I also fly in DCS in VR a lot, and it works without any issues. Also, i dont know if its important, but i currently have the BoS only.

The issue is, in some planes (namely the La5 and the Lagg3), the head position is all messed up. Its either outside the left side of the cockpit, or at my right knee position, so i am staring at the control pannel like 5cm away. In the Yak1, the camera seems to be in roughly the right position, but it also seems to float around. I look left, it floats slightly backwards, i look up, it floats slightly downwards and so on. It also seems to move unnaturally when I turn my head. All in all its making it either impossible to fly some planes, and the weird floating camera bug is making me sick after a while. Im blaming the camera for my sicknes cause i have dozens of hours in DCS in VR and i can take that with no problems.

Things that I have tried:

-Reinstalling the game several times.

-Going from the steam version to the standalone version.

-Reinstalling the standalone version several times.

-Restarting my computer several times.

-using the Default VR view. It just recenters the camera position back to the wrong one. I have bound it to keyboard, and to my hotas on several different buttons. Doesnt help.

-numpad 5. simply doesnt work

-setting and resetting the Oculus guardian several times
-running the game in 2d and setting the head position manually, saving the position with F10 and restarting the game in VR. Doesnt work, view is back at my knees

-Set all the settings in the camera menu to 0% and to 100% just to see what happens, hoping it will get rid of the weird floating cam

Im at a loss here. I love ww2 birds, and i really want to give this game a shot, but in this state its simply unplayable to me in VR, and the whole reason i even got VR was to play flight sims. Even the flyable planes are horrible to use because of the weird floaty camera, and others are simply unusable.

So if anyone has ANY idea what this could be, please help.

Thanks.

You need to change the default camera position.

This is on a per plane basis.

I find easiest and best method for me to do on the monitor, ie uncheck VR and launch IL-2 on the monitor instead.

Once adjusted launch it in VR again for the plane you adjusted and check how it is. May need to do another time or two to get it right where you want it.

Hope this helps.

After doing this and getting it where you like it, you can bind Default VR View to a button and it will always return to the new default cockpit view you set below.

Here are the steps:

 Adjusting the default head position:
1. Ensure any head tracking software (such as TrackIR) is disabled.
2. Make sure you cockpit view is centered by pressing the numpad 5 key (Pilot head: snap position center).
3. Adjust your camera view to the left and to the right with the Delete (Move pilot head left) and the End keys (Move pilot head right), respectively.
4. Adjust your camera view forward and backward with the Insert (Move pilot head forward) and the Home keys (Move pilot head backward), respectively.
5. Adjust your camera view up and down with the Page Up (Move pilot head up) and the Page Down keys (Move pilot head down), respectively.
6. Once you are satisfied with your changes, press the F10 key (Save current corrections in head snap position). If at any time before this step you want to revert to the default head position, press the numpad 5 key.
