Press X to swan dive off monastery tower

No matter how many times I 'swan dive' off a high point in the game, I love the often beautiful scenery that is depicted beforehand...

Will definitely be getting,  although the setting doesn't appeal to me as much as the last 2. Loved running around ancient Egypt in particular.

Since I loved both the Amazon series "Vikings" and the Netflix series "Lost Kingdom" this one is a sure buy for me. Maybe I even manage to finish AC Odyssey until autumn.

After the Trailer yesterday, I´m pretty sure the Dev´s watched to much "Vikings". I ❤️ it. Will be a day one buy for me as well.

I'd say they have definitely been influenced by the Vikings series... but for game play,  that is not a bad thing.

I just take a half look at the fantasy series with viking influence.
But I am glad that is how people see the viking symbols.
Our heritage, history and tradition is half way stolen by every single one from neo nazi’s to populist semi racist politicians.
And I take offence by it

It's a game... not a political or historical statement!

Yeah and it got me to be very positive to it.

Hang on.  So are you telling me that real Vikings were not all former underwear models with wiry frames that were honed in exclusive pilates studios?

Thanks. He put it nicely. They even not sure what they did most when being “viking” New evidence shows despite some periods of raiding France Ireland and uk in general. Even loose bigtime in a invation attempt. They probably did more trading than war in the long run.
We had a bad christening influenced by England based on belief or head off.
But all in all the Viking period span a lot longer than the raids did

Kelts are a different culture altogether in a different language group. I've never read or heard that they were famous for sailing, but they once were the dominating culture from Spain through France and Britain until the migration period after the fall of the Roman empire. During that period, Germannic tribes were displaced from areas now Slavic, and migrated through France, Spain, Marocco and even sacked Rome at one point. (The Vandals). Later, Spain was conquered by the Caliphate.

Viking is a moniker used for Scandinavian tribes (Germannic) trading and raiding from ca 870 until 1030 (Battle of Stamford Bridge).

The north of spain is kelt and people look a lot like the irish

The Irish aren't actually Celts genetically speaking anyway. We did import a lot of their culture through the trading we did with Celtic regions on the continent. But a genetic study showed that Irish people didn't really have the genetic markers associated with Celts (which came as a bit of surprise to many people).

I was really hoping the next game would be set around the Oxford University libraries.

I decided to revive this dead topic, because I played AC Valhalla in January and February this year and with IL-2 Great Battles also installed I couldn't resist to compare maps of these two games. Both have region of south England and in both we can fly a crow.

2.OldCrow.thumb.jpg.ce769e641cb4c96c0374b22bdac7ae35.jpg

First. Little disclaimer. I have no intention to put one game above the other. Both were build with completely different purpose in mind, I am definitely aware of that and I like both of them. This comparison was made only out of curiosity without any other intent.

So let's see how both games handled various locations to serve their purpose.

Let's start above Dover and look to the west above the coast.

In Assassin's Creed, Dover is just a settlement of few houses and in the fog in the distance is visible Isle of Wight only 5km far...

3.DovertoIsleofWight.thumb.jpg.c3cf40b5df426e23732c1d4b05cf55f1.jpg

...while in reality, and also in IL-2 Battle of Normandy, is 180km away, far beyond range of visibility. In IL-2 we can see only peninsula behind Folkestone in 30km distance.

4.Dovertocoast.thumb.jpg.18637d76db82a26f70907be6117842f5.jpg

When we fly above Isle of Wight, we can see again how much developers of AC reduced the size of the world. In AC is possible to ride on a horse through entire Isle in about few minutes.

7.IsleofWight.thumb.jpg.a8d38f699f7387102ce6b878b1832a8a.jpg

In IL-2 Sturmovik is Isle of Wight huge, I must have climb to 4300 meters and deep above a channel just to fit it into one screenshot.

8.IsleofWight4300m.thumb.jpg.30395128d646a1ac00d3714eab969db5.jpg

North of the coast is town Winchester. Looking from the north to the south, in AC is clearly visible sea, and town Southampton is non existent. In IL-2, with all towns between Winchester and sea included, is sea barely visible only as thin line.

Closer to the ground AC starts to have an advantage in details, obviously. Althougt they are far from reality, they serves a purpose, because looks beautiful as can be seen on this cathedral in the middle of the city. While IL-2 have no need for such level of fidelity.

And of course Stonehenge cannot be missed...it wouldn't be England without it. I add screenshots to next post because a crossed 5mb file budget.

I hope someone finds it interesting. Not every day can be seen comparison between pears and apples. ;)
