[Warship]MidnightLightnin Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 I'm having problems with TIR locking up when I enter a multiplayer game and suspect it might be linked to a joystick issue. I originally installed the game with a MS Sidewinder stick but then changed to a Thrustmaster 1600. I had some problems which I don't quite remember but one issue was that when I assigned buttons in IL2 the button number recorded in settings was one less than the number of the button on the stick. I did a full reinstall of IL2 and TIR also manually deleting all the config files left behind after the uninstall but still have the button number issue. I recently noticed that TIR correctly recognises the 1600 button numbers so I'm thinking if TIR is using the correct numbers but IL2 is one number out it may be causing a conflict and the TIR lock up. It looks like its remembering some settings from the old joystick. Does anyone know how to fix the the joystick numbering issue - is there a config file somewhere I could delete and recreate etc? Thanks Jon
mattswe Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Im not sure I understand your problem, and how it might be connected to tir. But if you have trouble with the stick and you think it might be the old one that interfere, you could always check the devices.txt file, under "IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input". In this file your new stick should be present, but not your old one. And you can always delete the file, for the game to create a new one on next startup. 1

This is how is, happens that some games start numbering joystick buttons from 0, Windows start from 1. 1

So is this normal for IL2 does everyone with the Thrustmaster 1600 see button numbers being 1 less than the stick says they should be?
Sokol1 Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 (edited) Yes, and this is not related with T.16000M. See my joystick, VKB Gladiator Mk.II, whose trigger is button #14 in VKB test (or Windows Game Controllers). But IL-2 game see this button as #13, because game engine numbering joystick buttons from #0. In the old Il-2:1946 is the same. If this numbering are causing issue with TrackIR, set a key for control TrackIR and use JoyToKey or similar set a joystick button for press that key. Edited May 3, 2020 by Sokol1 1

I don't know for sure but suspect the numbering differences between TIR and IL2 are causing the issue and will try this and see whether it fixes it. Been driving me mad for months so appreciate your time
