T.Flight Hotus X “slider 0” will not work in game

Thanks to this forum I have figured out how to get the “slider 0” as a separate control from the “rz axis”, but when I try to assign it to a controll it will not register in the keymapping screen (as in the game does not even acknowledge that it is being used/pushed).  I downloaded the thrustmaster control panel, and it is functioning properly, but the game refuses to believe that the button exists.  Thoughts or suggestions?
